Skye and Lochalsh Council for Voluntary Organisations are looking to recruit an Office Administrator to support the delivery of our services.

In this role you will be making a big difference to our team by providing wide-ranging administrative support, including:

  • Maintaining SLCVOs membership system
  • Supporting SLCVOs income generation services
  • Administering day-to-day financial processes
  • Assisting with organising meetings and events
  • Supporting the production of communications
  • Providing relevant administrative support as required

Experience

  • Confident in the use of MS Office including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Experience of office administration and dealing with the public
  • Confident in use of databases, desktop publishing and system administration
  • An understanding of financial record keeping and administration
  • An understanding of data protection

Skills

  • Good listening and general communication skills
  • Proven ability to organise, prioritise and manage own work
  • Good numeracy skills

About Skye and Lochalsh Council for Voluntary Organisations

Skye and Lochalsh Council for Voluntary Organisations is the main support agency and advocate for voluntary and community organisations in Skye and Lochalsh, we:

  • Work in partnership with local communities, third sector organisations, statutory agencies and other support organisations to:
  • Strengthen local communities
  • Promote civic responsibility and volunteering
  • Support the voluntary sector
  • Promote the effectiveness of charities and community organisations.
  • Manage the Skye and Lochalsh Neighbours and Friends Befriending project in partnership with Highland Hospice
  • Provide a range of practicalservices for members and groups including room hire, photocopying and desk top publishing
  • Run Skye and Lochalsh Community Foodbank which is supported by a team of 12 dedicated volunteers

Our small staff team is based in Portree and the volunteer board of directors is currently made up of eight representatives from communities across the local area.

Main Purpose of role

The role of Office Administratoris to support the administration, financial and income generating operations of Skye and Lochalsh CVO.

Key responsibilities of position:

  • Maintaining SLCVOs membership system, including:
  • Administration of new memberships, renewals and cancellations
  • Updating of databases
  • Developing membership materials
  • Issuing member correspondence
  • Administering day-to-day financial procedures to manage invoices, payments and receipts
  • Supporting SLCVOs income generation services, including:
  • Room hire
  • Printing
  • Desk top publishing
  • Dealing with incoming queries
  • Assisting with organising meetings and events
  • Supporting the SLCVO team in the production of communications including
  • social media/web updates
  • newsletters and bulletins
  • project and operational reports
  • Providing relevant administrative support to SLCVO team as required
