Graduation Requirements

Requirements for Graduation

  • Complete courses - 24 credits (see SKHS Program of Studies)
  • Comprehensive Course Assessments
  • Complete Portfolio
  • State Tests - NECAP

2. Comprehensive Course Assessments (CCAs)

  • Students submit 8 proficient CCAs
  • 2 math
  • 2 ELA
  • 2 science
  • 2 social studies
  • Performance Based part of the final exam
  • Proficiency = 3
  • Most students will fulfill this requirement by the end of junior year

3. Portfolio Requirements: Students complete an assortment of assignments that link to the

school’s 8 Student Learning Expectations (SLEs).

Four Academic – A1, A2, A3 and A4

  • A1 provides evidence demonstrating how students think critically, analyze and problem solve
  • 6 submissions
  • A2 provides evidence of how students communicate effectively through reading, writing and speaking
  • 6 submissions -classroom assignments
  • A list of 10 books read during high school with reflective summary
  • A3 is technology literacy
  • 4 submissions
  • A4 is the fine arts proficiency
  • One semester class with work demonstrating proficiency

Two civic – C5 and C6

  • C5 provides evidence of how students recognize diversity and the rights of others in various communities
  • 1 submission
  • C6 provides evidence of a student’s understanding of the political, environmental, social and economic issues that affect our community
  • 1 submission
  • May use community service

Two social – S7 and S8

  • S7 provides evidence of a student’s understanding of the connection between making appropriate choices and one’s physical, social and emotional well being
  • 1 submission
  • S8 Students create and manage their portfolio and develop an Individual Learning Plan (ILP)
  • Complete ILP
  • Two recommendations from adults in the school community

4. State Tests: NECAP

Take Junior Year

  • October (Math & ELA) - DONE scores have been returned
  • May (Science)
  • Score ≥ 2 in both Math and Reading meets state proficiency
  • Support is being offered to students who did not score a 2 or better
  • Students who score a 1 are required to retake the exam as a senior

* Students who meet the proficiency (3 or 4) in math, writing and/or science may replace one

portfolio assignment in the appropriate SLE

Pass/Fail requirements for SK 103

  • Submit 13 entries to his/her portfolio
  • Write 5 Formative Reflections (2 completed in SK 102) for SLE 1, SLE 2, SLE 5,

SLE 6 and SLE 7

  • Write 8 of 10 book summaries (5 completed in SK 102)
  • Write a Junior Summative Essay – foundation for summative essay
