School Meal Information for Elementary Parent/ Guardians

Point of Sale(POS) Terminals, MySchoolBucks.com and Payment Topics

All grade levels, Kindergarten to Grade 12, are using a Point of Sale register system to log in meal sales and to manage students account balances. The Nutrikids POS register system uses MySchoolBucks.com to record all meal sales- free, reduced or paid students. If your student is paying full or reduced price for meals, there are two ways to pay. The easiest and most efficient is to put funds into their MySchoolBucks.com account. The other is to bring cash in every day. This is very time consuming and slows down the lunch lines resulting in less time for students to eat.

How MySchoolBucks.com works:

We encourage you to open a FREE account on MySchoolBucks.com. You can then view all purchases and transactions and see the current balance on your students account. There is no charge to have an account. There is only a charge when you use a debit/credit card to put money on the account. If you send in cash or a check to the school, there are no fees assessed. The only time there is a fee is when you use a debit/credit card on their app to fund your students account. The fee per transaction on your debit/credit card is $1.95. The amount of money you charge to your debit/credit card can be split up between different students who attend Enfield Public Schools with no additional fee. For example, I want to charge my credit card $100 to fund my son Mark in 11th grade at EHS and my daughter Ann in 5th grade at Eli Whitney. My credit card will be charged $101.95. I then split the $100 and put $50 on Mark’s account and $50 on Ann’s account. Any money left on a student’s account will follow them to the next grade and school, until they graduate.

How sending cash or a check to school works:

Your student will order lunch in the morning with the teacher. The teacher will ask who is having hot lunch. When the student goes thru the lunch line and receives the reimbursable meal, the students account is charged. There should be money on the account prior to going thru the lunch line. Make sure that there are funds in your students account prior to ordering lunches. If there is not enough money on your students account, a notification letter will be given to your child with the balance owed. When funds are added onto the account (either online pay or at the school) the money owed will be deducted out. PLEASE pay this debt asap. All negative balances must be paid!

You can give your child the money or personal check (made out to your child’s school and the word “Café” after the school name) in an envelope marked with your child’s first and lastname, classroom number and “Meal Account” andgive to the teacher. With almost 20 students in most classrooms, we need the money marked, unmarked money is a big problem! We will not know whose money it is if it is not clearly marked and the money will not show in the students account. We don’t want this to happen to you!

Please don’t pay for one day at a time or only paying for the current week. That was the old way! It is extremely time consuming for staff, secretaries, teachers and YOU to give money daily. Take advantage of not worrying every day if you remembered to give your child lunch money, we encourage you to pay a larger amount on your child’s account $10.00, $20.00, $50.00 or more. Please not just for one day!

If your check is returned to us, we are charged a $15.00 bank fee which will be due to Nutrition Services, in addition to the amount of the returned check. You will be contacted by our office if we are notified of a returned check.

Purchasing Milk Only at Lunch:

Students can pay daily $ .50 for milk (exact change please) or pay with student meal account funds. Please set up an account at Myschoolbucks.com and fund the account if you plan on not sending money in daily. Please see the flyer on MySchoolBucks.com that has been sent home on how to fund the account. Milk is purchased in the lunch line at the checker station.
