The Environmental Approvals Access and Service Integration Branch provides 'one-window' service for regulatory environmental approvals in Ontario. It is responsible for administering Ontario's Environmental Assessment Act, which applies to the planning of public sector projects and same private sector projects; reviewing and approving technical applications under the Ontario Water Resources Act and Environmental Protection Act for new or modified waste, wastewater and sewage facilities, or facilities which may emit a contaminant, including noise, to the air; monitoring, through an audit and acknowledgement process, compliance.

What we are looking for:

You are able to:

•Review and evaluate applications, engineering designs, specifications and other submissions for applications and projects that have known or predictable environmental impacts for construction, installation or modification of sources of air emission and air emission control technologies; coordinate comments related to the approval of these facilities for their compliance with the Environmental Protection Act (EPA), Environmental Bill of Rights, regulations and Ministry policies, guidelines and requirements;

•Prepare and review reports and Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) with associated terms and conditions for review as appropriate by the supervisor or senior staff;

•Provide technical support to Regional, legal and other Ministry staff, and establish effective working relationships with consultants and Municipal representatives.

•Prepare correspondence, briefing notes, Minister’s letters and other documents on matters relating to sources of emissions, pollution control equipment and the air and approval matters and the approvals program for reviews and approvals;

•Provide program and technical information and assistance to the Application Verification, Registration/Application Assessment and the Customer Services units;

•Participate in the identification, development and implementation of streamlined approvals processes.
