Post:Finance Officer (Partners) (C Grade)

Responsible to:Senior Investments & Business Development Officer

Job Purpose:To monitor the financial health of Sport Wales’ funded partners, particularly the National Governing Bodies (NGBs). To provide support and cover, as required within the Finance department for other finance related duties

Job Context

The Investments & Business Development Department is made up of a team of 6 FTE staff. It provides financial and business development support across Sport Wales and delivers the full range of financial services associated with a Welsh Government Sponsored Body.

Key Tasks

  1. Analyze accounts and other financial information from NGBs
  2. Interpret key information contained within accounts, for example liquidity and profitability
  3. Produce risk statements based on information received
  4. Meet with NGBs, as required, to ascertain relevant information
  5. Complete heath check reports and ensure they remain up-to-date
  6. Attend NGB panel meetings, as required
  7. Produce reports for the Head of Investments & Business Development and the Senior Investments & Business Development Officer
  8. Assist the Head of Investments & Business Development and the Senior Investments & Business Development Officer in NGB finance-related work
  9. Assist in key areas of the department’s work, for example preparing year-end accounts
  10. Cover for other Finance Officers during periods of holidays and sickness
  11. Any other duties prescribed by the Head of Investments & Business Development and the Senior Investments & Business Development Officer
  12. Answer any miscellaneous requests which arise from time to time

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential / Desirable
Education
Minimum of 5 GCSE passes or equivalent (including Mathematics & English)
Association of Accounting Technicians Qualification / 

Experience
Experience of working in a Finance Department
Experience of Purchase Ledger
Experience of Sales Ledger
Experience of working with IRIS accounts package or other accountancy software / 
 / 

Skills, Aptitudes & Abilities
Familiarity with spreadsheets and word processing packages
Welsh language /  / 
