2016JLAB Cadet Packing List
The bottom line is to ensure that you pack light! Keep in mind you'll be carrying your own luggage and storing itin a shared living space with other JLAB participants. So bring what you need and nothing you don't. Cadets participating in JLAB 2016 should ensure their arrival at The Catholic University with the following items:
Clothing
Comfortable walking shoes
Shirts (short- and long-sleeved)
Socks
Underwear (at least four pair)
Casual Shorts (no cut-off or inappropriate lengths for female cadets)
Pajamas / Robe
Raincoat/poncho and/or umbrella – does not need to be military issue
UNIFORMS:
Army - Class-B uniform; tie/neck tab optional
AF - Short-sleeve uniform
Navy - Service uniform
MC - Blue Dress “D”; short sleeve shirt with blue trouser/skirt
Toiletries
Toothbrush /Toothpaste
Shampoo/conditioner
Soap (for sink)/ Body Wash (for shower)
Deodorant
Hairbrush/comb
Sun screen or block
Spare set of contact lenses/glasses (if applicable)
Shower shoes
Miscellaneous
Notebook or paper
Pen or pencil
Spending money (suggested limit amount - $60)
Alarm clock
Insect repellent
Deck of cards, books, etc.
Travel iron (not required, but useful)
Clothes hangers
Plastic grocery sack for trash
Carry-on bag
This is a short list of things that cadets might need on the first day of the trip. (These items should be packed in the carry-on if baggage is checked in the event of lost or delayed luggage).
Money
Airline ticket
Toothbrush and toothpaste (remember, toothpaste needs to go in a one-quart Ziploc bag, and can't be bigger than 3 oz)
Hairbrush
Contact lens case/glasses (to sleep comfortably on the plane)
A change of clothes (in case luggage is delayed)
Medication
Small valuables
A list of emergency contact information (phone numbers and addresses)
Copy of any prescriptions
NOTE about valuables: Instructors will ensure that students do not bring high dollar value items or large amounts of cash. COF/Army JROTC/Air Force JROTC/Navy JROTC/Marine Corps JROTC are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Civilian and Uniform Requirements:
School/team spirit shirts are encouraged. A T-shirt will be given to all cadets and instructors to be worn on Monday while touring in Washington, DC.
** Civilian attire -- The following items are NOT authorized for this event:
1.Shirts and/or dresses that do not cover the waist, shoulders and back (Sleeveless shirts must cover the entire width of the shoulders.)
2.Tank tops or halter tops
3.Pants, shorts, slacks, and skirts of inappropriate size and fit or which have holes (even if wearing a garment underneath the area with holes)
4.Skirts, dresses or shorts with hems above the fingertips; knee-length shorts preferred
5.Exposed undergarments - Every student is expected to wear proper undergarments.
6.Clothing containing inappropriate language; advertisement of drugs, tobacco, or sex; suggestive lettering or pictures advocating/glorifying death and/or violence
7.Transparent or mesh clothing without appropriate shirt underneath
8.Apparel that is too revealing or excessively form fitting (i.e. spandex)
9.Jeans/pants with cut off hems
10.Flip-flops or high-heeled shoes
