Student Council report from Adrian Cheung / Reported on Trudeaumania on September 20th, the student store, club week, and upcoming events with attached notes.
Elections / David Andrew welcomed the new parents and explained the election process for the school council. We ended receiving eight parental forms and they have all be accepted. The following have been accepted: David Andrew, George Kerang-Asante, Albert Ngai, Laura Wong, Peter Roberts, Kai Mark, Michael, Wong, and Nuket Stratton.
After discussions, David Andrew will remain as chair, Peter Roberts will be the Treasurer, and we will rotate the duties of the secretary.
Overview of Guidance Services / Judith Rees presented the role of the Guidance Department in the school with emphasis on helping grade 12 students in their applications for post-secondary education and scholarships.
Sub-committee on feeder schools / David Andrew shared how we as a school need to communicate to the feeder schools on the parental level concerning PETHS. A sub-committee was formed for this back in June 2007 made up of David Andrew, Peter Roberts, and Kai Mark. George Kerang-Asante was added to this sub-committee.
Administrator’s Report from Annette Oliver and Joe Mancuso / Linda Balaishis is in France with three teachers and fifteen students. The last P.A. day the teachers discussed about safety issues and learned about technology in knowing how to use a moodle. OMNI TV will be in the school on October 4th with a focus on multi-culturalism. Parents Night will be on October 18th and the staff would like the parents of the council to be involved again in welcoming the other parents. On October 15th, there will be a School Council Forum at Bur Oak S.S. Linda, Peter, Nuket, and David will represent us. Our Senior Volleyball team won a tournament. One of our phys. ed. Classes raised over $1000 with the CIBC Run for the Cure. On November 7th, there will be no classes for grades 9 and 10. The grade 9s will participate in “take your kids to work” day and the grade 10s will hear presentations from Junior Achievements.
Teacher report / Vivian Garofalo reported that one of our students, Alexander Russell, received one of two of the highest awards in leadership in management in Canada over the summer.
