A series of announcements may be published April 13, 20, 27 and

May 4, May 11, May 18

Give to Keep a Family Together (the poor in spirit)

Mary was a single mother with six children. A series of events caused her to lose her home and she was scared she would lose her children too. Thanks to the Catholic Charities Samaritan House Shelter for women and children, Mary kept her family together. She now has a full-time job and is saving for a down payment on her own home.

Each day Catholic Charities’ shelters are home to 240 formerly homeless families. Please give on Mother’s Day to support Catholic Charities. Learn more and watch a video at

Give to Help the Grieving (those who mourn)

Beth and her only brother Steve were close. Sadly, a few months ago Beth lost her brother to suicide. She turned to the Catholic Charities LOSS program (Loving Outreach to Suicide Survivors) in Mundelein where the group counseling sessions helped her cope.

For 35 years the Catholic Charities LOSS program has supported tens of thousands of adults and children. Please give on Mother’s Day to support Catholic Charities. Learn more and watch a video at

Give to Feed Those Who Hunger and Thirst

After Jessica lost her job, it was hard to put enough food on her family’s table. Sometimes her two children went to bed hungry, and she and her husband skipped meals. The Catholic Charities pantry in Waukegan provided emergency food until Jessica found work.

More than a quarter million people rely on Catholic Charities food pantries in Cook and Lake counties. Last year, the need increased 20%. Please give on Mother’s Day to support Catholic Charities. Learn more and watch a video at

Give Children a Safe Place to Learn(the pure of heart)

Juan and Maria are parents to two boys. They wanted to work to support their family but struggled to find a safe place for their children during the day. They found a Catholic Charities child development center and today their children have made new friends and are on track to be ready for success in school.

Every day 1,500 children smile, learn and make new friends at one of 10 Catholic Charities child development centers. Please give on Mother’s Day to support Catholic Charities. Learn more and watch a video at

Catholic Charities Mother’s Day Collection

Every 30 seconds someone turns to Catholic Charities for help. When you give to the second collection today you ensure that one less mother has to worry about feeding her children tonight. That one less person will make a bench their bed tonight. That one less veteran will go without a job. 92 cents of every dollar you give goes directly to help someone in need.
