WHAT IS MARKET FRIDAYS AT CAMPUS MARTIUS PARK?

Market Fridays is a producers only market that serves a residential and business based clientele in the heart Detroit’s Downtown Campus Martius Park. Market Vending will take place on Cadillac Square, located between Woodward Avenue and Bates Street.

Hours: Fridays 11:00am until 2:00pm

Extended hours may be available on special event days

BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATION

  • Earn revenue – sell your farm and cottage items to more than 40,000 projected guests in one of the highest per capita spending markets in the country.
  • Marketing – generate awareness of your food establishment and drive traffic into your business. Marketing opportunities include: the option to distribute promotional materials at your booth (i.e., coupons, giveaways, etc.), the chance to make live TV and radio appearances, and the opportunity to participate in media interviews.

WHO MAY PARTICIPATE?

  • Vendors must grow or produce a majority of the products sold.
  • Items for sale will be defined as Michigan grown goods and produce, which include the following fruit, vegetables, edible grains, plants, trees, shrubs, dried flowers, herbs, apiary products, maple syrup, dried fruits and nuts, baked goods, dressings and sauces, jams and jellies.
  • It is the intent of this market to carry primarily Michigan grown, produced items. Campus Martius Park will have sole discretion to accept or deny items sold.
  • Each applicant must be fully licensed and insured.
  • Applicants must submit their intended list of items to be sold for the committee to review.

WHAT ARE THE OPTIONS FOR PARTICIPATION?

Participants will be expected to be open all hours and days of the Market.

WHAT DOES THE PROGRAM COST?

The Market Fridays program weekly cost is $25.

The City of Detroit Business License Fee is $115, a one-time for the duration of the program.

All payments are due at least two weeks in advance.

No on-site payments will be accepted. Accepted forms of payment are: Check/Money Order/Cashier’s Check made payable to Detroit 300 Conservancy.

WHAT DOES THE PROGRAM EXPECT FROM PARTCIPANTS?

The Market Fridays program provides participants with information geared towards creating a successful partnership between the Program and each vendor. Each vendor will be required to adhere to our Rules and Regulations, to complete necessary paperwork, and to cooperate in every way with Management. We appreciate your cooperation and will do everything we can to make your participation a success. The safety and happiness of our guests, participants, and staff is always our first concern.

WHAT THE SUMMER TIME FOOD VENDING PROGRAM PROVIDES EACH PARTICIPANT?

  • Booth – a 10’ x 10’ area marked by the Program under a Park umbrella.
  • General Services – A Market Fridays program representative will act as liaison with City departments and will assist in general consulting to help choose menu items, determine prices, lay out stands, plan staffing.

RULES & REGULATIONS

  • Accepted participants may sell non-alcoholic beverages. Beverages must be approved in advance.
  • Participants must adhere to deadlines for submitting applications, paperwork, and fee payments. Failure to meet deadlines will result in the disqualification of a participant from the 2017 Market Fridays program.
  • Accepted participants and their employees must maintain the highest degree of cleanliness and professionalism in their booths and on the grounds at all times.
  • Accepted participants are responsible for providing any and all necessary equipment for their operation. All equipment must meet Wayne County, Michigan, safety and health standards.
  • Recycling is a vital part of the Summer Vending Program. Use of recyclable or compostable serving products is mandatory.
  • Booth locations will be assigned by management to ensure a variety of choices at different locations within the site and in the best interest of the Program and the participant.

The Downtown Detroit Partnership are committed to making your market establishment thrive! We will:

  • Surround the market program with lively activities such as games and music that drive foot traffic.
  • Provide colorful and comfortable chairs, tables, and umbrellas to enhance the experience for customers.
  • Advertise the market program to all the Park Sponsors to share with their Downtown employees.
  • List the weekly market vendors on the Campus Martius Park website.
