Older People’s Day is celebrated on 1 October each year with the main aim of the day being a celebration of the achievements and contributions that older people make to our society. For more information about the event nationally go to

Silver Sunday is held on the first Sunday of October and is again a national celebration of older people and their contribution to communities through free activities. For more information about the event nationally go to

Hertsmere Borough Council is proud to support these days of celebrations by making some funds available for organisations who cater for people 65 plus to put on activities.

A maximum of £300 can be applied for by organisations who are in a position to put on events during the period between 28 September and 4October 2017.
