The Eisvogel city restaurant - chef cap cuisine at the foot of the Vienna Giant Wheel

The ‘Eisvogel’ (‘Kingfisher’) city restaurant is a prime example of fine traditional Viennese cuisine coupled with good value for money. The ‘Eisvogel’ city restaurant is open all year round and promises culinary treats for young and old - from the classic ‘Wiener Schnitzel’ to imaginatively served pastry confections. The dignified interior decoration of the Eisvogel city restaurant captivates with its sense of style and its simple, tasteful arrangements. Pictures of old Vienna enrich the atmosphere in the city restaurant. The carefully conceived menu with typical Viennese dishes is a treat for the eyes and the taste buds! One of the Eisvogel city restaurant’s particular specialties is the cheese cart. This esteem in which this culinary experience is held is also shown by the award of two chef’s caps in Gault Millau and 3 stars in the Michelin guide.

Pratersauna - Social Life & Art Space

Music Club | Café | Bar | Bistro | Pool | Artspace

“Pratersauna,” a sauna institution built in 1965 for the former Viennese High Society has retained its name throughout the past century, attaining cult status through various dubious stories told by contemporaries. Rumors range from it being the favored meeting place of the Russian mafia to a gay sauna of Vienna’s red light district.

Since the big Re-Opening at the end of 2009 a state-of-the-art functional concept was implemented in the basic architectural space under the title “Social Life & Art Space.” Pratersauna presents itself under new direction as an independent “Microcosm” for its national and internationally sophisticated clientele in art, culture, music, nightlife, fashion & lifestyle.

The Interior Concept draws from a symbiosis of original 60s charm and contemporary design spirit. One of the highlights is the uni-sex bathroom facility with 10 individually designed bathroom stalls, where you will find yourself simultaneously in a lunar landscape and on a DJ-Floor. The light & visual concept is setting new standards Europe wide in the area of light-mapping and 360-degree projection.

The innovative functional concept is based around four strategic pillars, made possible in the 3000sqm space, as a result of the unique interplay between Architecture and international programming.

Music Club.

Daily Wednesday through Sunday, national & international line-ups with a focus on electronic music (techno, minimal, tech-house, deep house); additionally, a “monthclub’ will take place with live acts from Indie/Rock, Soul/Funk and Jazz. Pratersauna is an official partner of the worldwide club network, the RedBullMusicAcademy.

Swimming Pool.

The swimming pool is surrounded by a garden and lawn for sunbathing, smaller wellness area (sauna, steam bath, cold water pool); Wireless Internet in the garden and an international magazine selection is offered on top.

Bar/Café, Bistro & BBQ.

The focus is on organic products from Austria, fresh fruit juice bar & homemade smoothies and cocktails. The take-away counter selection includes fresh sandwiches, a variety of salads, wraps, and sweets as well as weekly BBQ sessions with notable guest chefs.

Artspace.

A 300sqm gallery is located on the top floor of the building complex, currently being subleased for individual art projects or as an atelier for students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. In 2011, the art gallery PS.artspace, supported by the city of Vienna, will present its modern whitecube for the Austrian art market.

This unique location in the center of the leisure area of Vienna’s Prater (2nd district, Leopoldstadt, next to the famous Schweitzerhaus, and is easily reachable by public transport) promises to quickly become a Summer Hotspot for local and international trendsetters.
