MINUTES OF MONTHLY BOARD MEETING

SEPTEMBER 17, 2014

The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m. at St.Mark’s Parish House in Berkeley

Springs, West Virginia by Leslie Hotaling, Chair. Present were Morgan County Solid

Waste Authority members: Glenn Horr, Adam Keeling, Judy Fisher, and Pete Gordon.

JR Timmons, Center Manager was absent. Judy Fisher, Vice Chair took minutes of the

meeting in absence of Coordinator, Ellen Smith.

The minutes of the August 20, 2014 meeting were examined. Motion to accept Adam Keeling, Second Pete Gordon. Accepted: Unanimous.

Financial

Questions are SWMB and CountyGrants loaded. Need year to date figures.

Need variances and more budget information from Ellen by next meeting.

Pending further review and budget figures financials tabled by Glenn Horr. Second

by Adam Keeling. Accepted: Unanimous.

Center Manager Report

Center Manager absent.

Plastic bags were delivered. Water delivered.

Kevin made key for truck – what do we owe Kevin.

Brenda’s short hours were taken of by Ellen.

Pete Gordon will be the Board liaison with JR, Center Manager.

Chair’s Report

SWMB Grant signature pages returned – needed the Chair’s signature. Signed and

Judy will mail tomorrow.

Guest

Harmony Dressler – DEP – based in Romney, WV presented her new programs to the Board – Mini Water Festival, Save Our Springs, and Project Wet for Teachers. If any group or organization needs a speaker, please let Harmony know.

Coordinator’s Report

Safety issue at the Recycling Center Site. Kevin fell off a ladder with a box of cardboard.

Safety Committee to review safety plan for site. Center Manager and employees are not

to use ladders to fill boxes.

Action List

Garden bench: We are still trying to make choices. Pete volunteered to ask Margaret and Mrs. Biggs for some advice as to style.

New Business

Old Business

Truck Key made and is hanging in the shed at the Center Site.

Paving: Jeremy wants to do the railings before he does the paving.

Tires: Replaced on the plastic trailer.

Ramps: Pete will check on status Friday.

Railings: Parts ordered.

Ribs and Ties: To be delivered on Friday to the site – we will need to order bungee cords for the tarps. Containers: Two metals and one glass
