Masons Training Programme

Press note

Masons training programme

Construction of 13 lakh houses are presently under progress under INDIRAMMA, GO 171, Flood Housing etc. Further, additional houses are likely to be taken up under Rachabanda-II to be launched from 15th October 2011. Hence it is essential that the housing machinery at the district level is fully geared up to meet the challenges of construction of large number of houses.

With a view to speed up quality construction of houses, it has been decided to have the capacity building exercises for masons, bar benders. The ultimate aim is to have such trained masons, bar benders, centering material contractors on the empanelled list of APSHCL so that they could assist the Housing Corporation and the beneficiaries in construction of quality houses at a quick pace in the large numbers as envisaged by the Government.

Further, it is also felt essential that the production facilities in the Nirmithi Kendras established by the APSHCL be utilizedoptimally for production and supply of pre-cast building components such as blocks, RCC door frames, window frames etc. to increase availability of these materials and bring down the cost of construction.

It is therefore proposed to conduct training programs to the Rural & Urban youth who are intending to engage in building construction activity with the collaboration of National Academy of Construction (NAC). The training at NAC will mainly focus on three major components such as.,

(a) Production of Precast building component

(b)Latest techniques in Building construction and

(c)Latest trends in centering and bar bending, focused on our weaker sections housing programme.

As a first step, all the PDs in the state have been requested (Vide Circular No.9930/APSHCL/NK.NAC-TRG/11, dt.27.9.2011 available on the website) to identify the semi skilled/skilled workers who are interested in different trades such as masonry, centering and bar bending trades and their names be submitted in the online excel format available in the DEEs login by 10.10.2011. These candidates will be trained in association with NAC.

After completion of the training (both in Theory and Practical) by NAC, the candidates will be examined by the NAC and successful candidates will be awarded certificates. The successful candidates who got through the examination and certified by the NAC would be empanelledwith APSHCL. The candidates so empanelled would be enlistedto work for the housing and other construction works taken up by the APSHCL in a big way.
