The guy I will refer to as Mar and the girl I will refer to as Marsha, they are walking down the hall holding hands. They are not smiling at each other; the girl appears mad, she keeps giving the guy a mean glare. The guy keeps saying he is sorry, but I don’t think he even knows what she is mad about. They walk to the cafeteria and get in line to get food. They are no longer holding hands. She is talking to a girl standing in front of them instead of interacting with the guy. The guy is busy looking at the food. The two sit next to each other at the table and the girl eats food off the guy’s tray and smiles at him, he smiles back. The guy picks up his tray and hers after they are done eating and takes them to the garbage. He returns to the table and she is busy talking to the other girls at the table. He is looking at his cell phone.

I love going to the beach. The beach I like to go to is very private, with few people at it. It is a very wide white sand beach. The waves at high tide are almost always 4 feet or higher. To get on to the beach there are raised wood walkways that goes over sand dunes with protected ecosystems. There are benches built in and usually a shower to rinse the sand and salt off, before going into the house or hotel. The whole walk you can view the expanse of the ocean and beach that lies ahead. I enjoy the relaxing sound of the surf hitting the sand, the caws of sea gulls, and the dive bombing of pelicans searching for fish in the surf. It is fun jumping in the waves, body surfing, getting a sun tan. I Spend hours on the beach relaxing, and building elaborate sand castles, as well as digging deep holes. I think it is special, because I relax so much and feel rejuvenated after a week at the beach. It makes me feel energized, perhaps because the vitamin D from the sunshine helps me when I am a bit anemic. Then I have a great appetite for food. I wish I was there right now.

Write about what you most like about writing. Write about what is most difficult for you when you write.

My favorite thing about writing is coming up with the subject and elaborating on it. I usually can write at length about a subject that interest me, I am good at putting details in writing so the reader can picture it the way I envisioned it. Once I start writing the ideas flow easily and quickly for me. The three things that are difficult for me in writing are spelling, grammar, and limiting the body of work to a certain amount of words or pages. I think in chapters, not sentences or paragraphs.

He slowly walks as if in a fog, into the man cave, and plops down on his peeling leather recliner, which he refers to as, “Rosealita”. You would think it was 7 a.m. by the messy hair and pressure prints on his face from long hours of sleep, but it is 2:00 p.m. actually. Worn gray pj bottoms hang loosely from his waist, the only item of clothing of his attire. He guzzles a water bottle, and wipes the excess drip of water from his chin with the side of his left hand. He pulls back the leg rest pulley and crosses his barefeet on the reclined foot rest. All that is regurgitated from his mouth is a complaint about grandparents, school, band, news story, book, and movie, what someone wrongly thinks of the movie. All I hear is what Charlie Brown’s adults sound like, or the caption of what a dog hears, “ Whawhawhawa….”

My Aunt Lisa and Shawn came over for my birthday. I don’t like writing about birthdays, so I will write about them instead. They got married just a couple years ago and know already don’t like each other, did I say don’t like, I mean can’t stand. They were both with other people, and have serious problems. He has dangerous temper problems, and she is down rite anal about everything. They sit on the couch as far away from each other as possible. She glares at him, and he has a look on his face like he is trying to imagine she does not exist. She vents endlessly to my mom about her life which she feels is stressful. With no job, and few outing, is quit a pathetic excuse for a life. He works at the post office as a mail man but tends to sort the mail, and like many men doesn’t like his job. He is medically mentally unstable, and owns guns. She is overly critical and always complains. Then again he can look back on where he came from being a juvenile delinquent with an abusive father. I think if they had any say they would not be together anymore.

MudgePudge and his Mom were at the McDonald’s drive up this weekend. She was driving and he was playing his Nintendo DS. She asked him what type of happy meal he wanted. He went on a big temper tantrum saying he wanted a Big Mac meal, 20 piece nugget meal, and double cheeseburger with a large coke or he will pee all over the back seat of the van. His mother says fine!, and orders the ridicules amount of food for him. When they pull up to the front window after paying, the staff gave her two bags. She did not check them thinking that if anything is missing, it would be a gift. As they drive away, he already starts eating before they leave the parking lot. He has eaten the whole big mac and started on the nuggets. His mother sighs, “what am I gone to do with you?”He chuckles in a way that shakes the van. Another meal over and donewith in minutes.

T: Observe a teacher. When you are NOT in class, write about your observations.

There is this one teacher I use to have for a class awhile back. I see him around; he is usually quiet which is strange, because in his class, he usually taught through a lecture format. There are times when his room is used for other classes, and he sits in the library quietly and almost unnoticeable. He will stares off occasionally, appearing to be thinking about something intently. Some of my most uncharacteristic moments with this teacher, outside of his class are when I see him in the bathroom. He will say, “hi,” and every time it occurs my nasal passages are bombarded with the odor like someone has just taken a big number two, which by the smirk on his face, I can only assume was him, and he is not ashamed. It has happened repeatedly, and all I can think of is the stand-up comic, Jeff Foxworthy’s bit about “courtesy wiffs.

W: Think of a saying you find motivational. Write that statement down and explain why/how it speaks to you.

“America, Love it or give it back!” This is a saying on a shirt that has a picture of Sitting Bull,Geronimo, and another Native American on it .To me this means something to the degree of, stop complaining about everything, if you are not happy, give the land back to the Native Americans. Your ancestors stole it from them. I like to wear the t shirt, because it showspeople, without saying anything, that I am Indiansympathizer. It also shows that I don’t like people who complain about things when there are others who would die for those things. I got it at a store that sells Native AmericanIndian replicas, and they had more t shirts and bumper stickers with saying like one that says, “Homeland Security, protecting you from terrorist since 1742”, and has a photograph of armed Native Americans.

TH: Write about a problem you have, had or are expecting to have. What are, were, or might be the possible resolutions of this problem?

I have a 13 year old pet cat, which my father adopted years before his death. Both my Mother and brother that live with me are seriously allergic to her. When she was a tiny kitten she would lay next to my dad’s laptop computer while he did work. He was always on his computer, so she was always next to him. In my sophomore year of high school I began doing almost all my homework on my computer. I have a routine of every day at 5:00 p.m. I get my laptop out of my backpack, and set it on the coffee table in our living room to begin my homework. My cat, Fuzzy, comes running and lays on paperwork beside the computer, tries to climb or sit on the computer, rubs her neck up against the corner of the screen, causing the laptop to begin to close. She even last year, when I took a break from homework to eat dinner, laid on top of the keyboard and switched the direction the screen was, making it vertical, and impossible to use the mouse. Some of the ways I have combatted the issue is trying to pet her and give her attention beside the computer, or on the couch next to me. I also lift her up and move her, but she is a boomerang and is back annoying me. My mom and brother have even tried to give her attention to keep her busy while I complete my homework. She in the past was a really shy cat, which we never would see in the house so we don’t want to be mean. Two other things that work are putting her in the finished basement and closing the door so she can’t come upstairs during homework time. Right now I am doing my homework on the tall bar stool height dining room table, which has worked twice before. It is just that I have done homework at the coffee table since I was young, and feel more comfortable doing it there. Okay the dining room table no longer works the cat is licking my forearm and rubbing her head against my shoulder purring as I write.

F: Pay attention to the words and phrases your peers are using. Write down any that seem unusual or particularly interesting.

Some words that my peers use that bug me, because they do not use them in the appropriate context are: rape, stalker, gay. Most other words they use regularly and overuse are all words I do not feel are appropriate to type in a high school paper, because they are all cuss words. I am not familiar with very much slang though, it is not like many people talk to me at school. The friends I do have at school fall into the last category of cussing. I keep hearing the term, “Get in” for getting sex.

Some of the colleges I am thinking of going to are: Black Hills University in South Dakota, University of Central Florida, in Orlando, Florida, the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska, and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in Edwardsville, Illinois. My three majors/ minors I am interested in pursuing are Creative Writing, Studio Art, and Native American studies. All of the above colleges have a program for all three majors. Another thing I have to consider is the location, the cost, and what accommodations the school will provide to help me succeed with my dyslexia and need for digital format education. With my current ACT score, class ranking, and GPA I should be able to get accepted at any of these colleges.

S: CONTINUE YOUR MUDGE PUDGE WRITING

One thing I have not mentioned about MudgePudge up until now is that he is from a wealthy family with no shortage of money available to him. He and his mother drove into the huge automatic gate leading to his mansion in New Hampshire. His father is a wealthy surgeon, and his mother is from a filthy rich family. His mother is a member of the elite country club in her town as well as the President of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) of the area chapter. MudgePudge has a 30 ft x 40 ft bedroom with a living room suite attached to it. He has a 75 foot big screen tv in his bedroom which has every video game system hooked up to it. He has a custom made leather lazy boy recliner to fit his large back side comfortably. Instead of an easy back oven like most kids, he has a pizza oven with an intercom that leads to the kitchen so the maid can run up and make him his pizza. There is a modernized dumbwaiter so they can deliver all his wants and needs appetite wise directly to his bedroom suite 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Observe traffic in the parking lot after school. Write about your observations.

It is awful, there are cars coming from all differentdirections, each trying to get out of the parking lot the fastest. Everyone seems to think they are in the most hurry, and are probably busy texting and updating facebook. This makes it dangerous for any one driving, even the most experienced driver. Then there are those who optto take the buses, which tend to be a littlesafer. These people are taking theirtime talking with others who they know. In addition it is not just vehicles moving about the parking lot, add the pedestrians into the mix. Cars have lots of teenagers in the vehicle, so the drivers are additionally distracted.

T: Write a poem that focuses on only one of the senses. For example, describe how something sounds but not how it looks, tastes, feels or smells.

Fuzzy, warm

Comforting, hugging

Soft as a baby animal’s fur

Wrapped around me, making me feel secure

Woven, knitted, sewn, spun, cut,

Cotton, wool, fleece, quilted,

Inviting, enticing, womb-like, enveloping, covering

Baby, lap, twin, full, queen, king

Blanket

W: Write about a time you procrastinated. Create a poem about why and how you procrastinated.

14 days expected time of departure

Bought the rain jacket

Did not pack it

12 days expected time of departure

Last meeting for People to People

Pretty sure I don’t want to go

Suitcase not even out

10 days expected time of departure

Did my laundry, put it away

Not in my suitcase

Know I don’t want to go

8 days expected time of departure

Got my international phone

It’s sitting on the dining room table

Not packed

How can I get out of this?

4 days expected time of departure

I have my passport

Still locked in the safe

I think I will just stay home this summer

2 days expected time of departure

Have my itinerary, France, Italy, Greece

Let someone else go in my place

I am not packing, and then I will not be going

10 hours before my expected time of departure

The whole family is packing my stuff

It is down to the wire

I must go to bed, get sleep, I have a big trip ahead of me

Still not all the way packed

TH: Write a poem in which the beginning, not the end words, rhyme.

Poo I hate poetry

You don’t have to assign so much poetry

Who likes poetry?

Do we always have to do poetry?

True, I am not the only one who feels this way

Blue is imagery, put it in a poem

Clue into my writing interest, no more poetry please

F: Write a poem praising something simple like dirt, a tomato or a shoe.

Froggie little flag

Swaying in the breeze

Flipping over the holder

Neat that it is three d

Hope it does not get caught and snag

Hay fever makes me sneeze

The fall weather means it’s colder

The flag sits in the shade of a tree

Out on a leisurely Sunday drive, the sky is a beautiful calm blue, and after finally having several much needed rainfalls the grass is finally green again. We drive on a side road to avoid traffic; on the left is a wide open cemetery. With a varied array of shapes and sized tombstones adorn with flowers left by loved ones. We spot an old gentleman sitting in a lawn chair spending a sunny afternoon with his lifelong partner, the wife he finds hard to be left behind without. There is no one he appears to want to be with more on this breezy afternoon, then his deceased wife. He probably even misses her complaining and napping to get up and do something off his to do list. To be an onlooker it evokes emotions of sweet sorrow for a love worth morning.
