Objectives of the PROBE: Midwives Course

Basic course covering the essential knowledge of obstetric ultrasound for midwives. This course is unique by using simulation to develop practical skills in ultrasound scanning. The course also covers common clinical scenarios seen in a maternity day unit, fetal medicine unit and labour ward.

Learning objectives

  1. Understand the principles of obstetric ultrasound scanning
  2. Hands on ultrasound scanning covering 2nd and 3rd trimester: presentation, viability scan (fetal heart present/absent), placenta localisation and amniotic fluid volume assessment.
  3. Understand multidisciplinary communication and risk management in obstetrics ultrasound and fetal medicine
