Main Place of Work:HerefordCountyHospital/ Home based with travel to Linton House Clinic, Thirlestaine Road, Cheltenham, GL53 7AS and through out the county of Herefordshireand such other areas as required.

Responsible to: Head of Fundraising

Accountable to:Chief Executive, Cobalt Appeal Fund

Salary:Up to £20,000 pro rata depending on experience

Hours:20 hours per week

Term:Initial 10 month period

Job Purpose: To develop and deliver a programme of fundraising activity focussed on the Cobalt Herefordshire Breast Cancer Appeal, through community, major donor, trust and corporate contacts and maximise income and profile for Cobalt in Herefordshire.

Operational Duties

Income generation

The post holder is expected to maximise the potential for income from fundraising activity achieving the best possible return on investment for the charity.

  1. Agree with the Head of Fundraising, realistic but challenging income targets for Cobalt’s Herefordshire Breast Cancer Appeal and ensure these are met within agreed expenditure limits.
  2. Maximise income by establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals, schools and community groups within the agreed geographical area.
  3. Work together with the Fundraising Staff Team to network effectively with major donors and Herefordshire based trusts/foundations to increase Cobalt support.
  4. To plan, lead and implement all Herefordshire events and campaigns to maximise income and raise awareness of Cobalt, initially focussed on our Herefordshire Breast Cancer Appeal.
  5. Represent the charity to a range of potential supporters through a variety of mediums including telephone and written contact, presentations and face to face meetings as appropriate.
  6. Recruit, train and manage fundraising and presentation volunteers to assist Cobalt as an extension of the Fundraising Staff Team.
  7. Encourage Herefordshire supporters to participate in Cobalt’s template fundraising events.
  8. Generate publicity for Cobalt’s work and fundraising events.
  9. Develop, in conjunction with the Fundraising Team, appropriate fundraising publicity materials for use by community groups, schools and individuals.
  10. Explore the opportunities for corporate fundraising and support likely to be gifts in kind, sponsorship and employee fundraising.
  11. Attend and represent Cobalt at relevant events/presentations as agreed with Head of Fundraising.
  12. Any appropriate duties that may be requested by a member of the senior management team, CEO, Chairman or Trustee.

Reporting & Administration

  1. Maintain comprehensive records regarding all contact from community supporters using our electronic database (AKC), computer files and paper records as appropriate.
  2. Ensure that all donations are appropriately acknowledged.
  3. Carry out necessary planning and risk assessment to ensure that all events are carried out to best practice standards.
  4. Provide reports as required and regularly meet with the Head of Fundraising to measure work against objectives.
  5. To manage and process receipt of all monies on a timely basis working with the Finance Officer (based in Cheltenham), to include banking money and preparing banking spreadsheets

Communication and working relationships:

The post holder will need to maintain positive working relationships with the following people:

External:

  • Local community groups, schools, clubs, individuals and businesses
  • Runners and challenge event participants
  • Local media – to promote Cobalt’s activities and fundraising events
  • Volunteer fundraisers
  • Representatives from WyeValley NHS Trust
  • Corporate & Trusts contacts

Internal:

  • Head of Fundraising
  • Fundraising Staff Team
  • Finance Team
  • Cobalt wider team as appropriate

Management of Resources

1.Liaise with the Fundraising Staff Team to ensure adequate resources are available

Line management

  1. Recruit, train and manage fundraising and presentation volunteers.

Teamwork

This will involve:

  1. Contribute to the vision and mission of Cobalt; working with colleagues in all teams to meet the objectives of the Charity.
  2. Work with members of the Clinical Teams and local NHS partnerships to develop an in depth understanding of Cobalt’s current services in order to convey the charity’s objectives and professional integrity to potential supporters.
  3. Work closely with colleagues in the Fundraising Team to contribute to overall strategic planning and budgeting.
  4. Adhere to corporate policy and procedure

Personal Development

All Cobalt staff are required to participate in the organisation’s annual appraisal and mid year review scheme. The end of year appraisal will include a personal development review where progress made over the last year is discussed and agreed. Focus on the following year’s departmental and personal objectives will be identified, discussed and agreed.

To hold data only for specific registered purpose and not use or disclose it in any way incompatible with such purpose. To disclose data only to authorised persons or organisations as instructed.
