Discussions:

  • 2011 Dues: for the 2011 dues the newly passed Retired Life Membership fee of $225.00, will be placed on the envelop for those retired members looking to take advantage of a one time payment.
  • Night at the Races: Discussion by members as to weather the price should be increased to $45, or leave it at $40. If left at forty we are not making money, and if we raise the price to forty five we chance losing attendees. There was discussion on maybe cancelling the event altogether.
  • President advised that the race committee needs to make the decision on how to handle the event and make their report back to the board so we can make a better decision on the event.
  • Finances: Joe Simonetti, gave our financial report with all bills paid are net worth is around $86K. Which puts our finances in an OK state? Our money market fund has come back somewhat. President advised that we have cut our expenses by some 60%, and we need to continue to be frugal.
  • Discussion on the lack of profit for the Annual Gala Benefit Dinner Dance. The discussion had to do with the Journal that is printed. It was stated that without including the cost of the Journal the dinner we would almost break even, or show a small profit based on a good raffle.
  • Fundraising for us: President advised that we do an awful lot of fundraising for different charities, but in these hard economic times we need to do a fundraiser for ourselves.
  • A beefsteak was suggested for Oct/Nov, discussion on the Brownstone as possible location; however members thought that their price was too much, we are probably better off finding a location and using Besiegers. All members were in concurrence. Committee was formed :
  • John Comparetto
  • Mike Puzio
  • Vinnie Pardee
  • Al Imperiale
  • John Stroka, presented the idea of a wine and cigar night at the PAC center. Again the membership was in concurrence. John is going to investigate the matter further and report back to the board.
  • John Stroka, brought up the bowl-a-thon that it is no longer feasible doing it down in his area. He would be willing to help anyone that wanted to do it up North.
  • Newsletter: President acknowledged the great success of the newsletter and all of the hard work Pat is putting into it. He suggested that the board members should be sending Pat information on different events happing in their departments for the newsletters.
  • Recognition: Rose brought up recognition awards. There was a discussion about reinstating the awards program. However after a discussion by the board members it was decided that a committee would be formed and that committee would recognize an individual at a general meeting for their outstanding work.
  • Committee: Rose Minoughan, John Comparetto, & John Stoka.
  • New Membership: It was discussed on how to reach the different departments again for new members.
  • There was discussion on how the reach our membership in South Jersey. President asked Nat if they had someway of sending out a mass fax to all departments. Nat was going to find out and let us know. The Howell meeting should well publicized
  • Plans for membership drive and mailing to be scheduled at the next Executive Board meeting.
  • Picnic: The Picnic committee presented to the board that it would now be know as the Frank Donahey Memorial Picnic. The board approved the change.

Meeting adjourned at 9pm
