"This Man!"

Philippians 2:5-11

INTRO.Christianity is Christ! We must NEVER FORGET what His Death means to us! In 1 Timothy 2:5-6, The Scripture says,"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time."

Much is said in the Scripture about "This Man!" In John 19:5, the Bible tells us that after Pilate had scourged Jesus, and after the soldier had platted a crown of thorns on His head, and put upon Him a purple robe; that they smote Him with their hands. Pilate, then brings Christ to all the people, and says, "Behold The Man!"

In our text, Paul says, "Let this mind be in you, that was in Christ Jesus." (v5) We should try, as His people, to think and live as Christ would in this old sinful world. In vv.6-8, Paul says, "Who [Christ], being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross."

Christ was just as much man, as any of us are today, yet without sin! But just as certainly as He was the Son of Man; He is the Son of God! He became man to die for our sins, but He was still God! He could of called 10,000 angels to spare Him from the Cross, but He was obedient to the Father's will.

"This Man" ever lives to make intercession for all who believe. I want to look at "This Man" tonight. He should be every Child of God's example of godliness.
