Important Information for the Herschel V Jenkins Class of 2017

  • Dress for Graduation: Female attire is a black dress/skirt or dress black slacks (no denim), black dress shoes, and minimal jewelry. Dresses should be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee and no longer than the gown. Shoes should not have a heel higher than 3 inches. When in doubt, have an advisor check the dress and shoes ahead of graduation day. Male attire is black or navy pants, collared white dress shirt, dark tie and black dress shoes. Absolutely no tennis shoes or flip flops will be allowed. Any clothing item or accessory that is unduly distracting is a violation of the Code of Conduct and will not be permitted. Students not following this dress code will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony.
  • Senior Dues: $220and must be paid before delivery of cap/gown. Postal money orders or cashiers’ checks are the only payment options because of the danger of handling cash. Also, personal checks are not accepted. Partial payments will not be accepted and must be made before school, after school until 3:00 and during lunch 2nd semester. The due date for senior dues is Friday, April 7, 2017. NO MONEY WILL BE REFUNDED FOR STUDENTS NOT COMPLETEING GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS. Caps and gowns will only be delivered to those seniors that have paid in full by the delivery date. Seniors must turn in measurements to Herff-Jones on one of three dates that they visit Jenkins. Missing these deadlines will involve payment of a late fee to Herff- Jones. There will be a senior parent informational meeting on Tuesday, September 13 at 6:00 pm in the Jenkins auditorium.in the auditorium to answer questions. Herff-Jones will visit for an initial senior informational meeting on Monday, October 17 and will be on campus to take measurements during all lunches Monday, October 31, Monday, November 14, and Tuesday, January 10. Senior announcements will be delivered on Tuesday, March 28 and caps and gowns will be delivered on Wednesday, April 19. Senior dues cover a wide array of items including senior shirt, diploma cover, senior breakfast, cap and gown and yearbook. All other items incur an additional charge that will be paid to Herff-Jones.
  • Class Officers: Senior class officers will be elected during advisement. Those seeking office need to stop by room 82 for an application. Rules for campaigning will be strictly followed. Posters and fliers are fine. There will be no selling or giving away of free items for votes such as candy or other treats. This is to be a fair election, which will exemplify the correct rules for campaigning. There is also a speaking part for officers that will be held after school in room 82. All parts of the application are due and accepted prior to campaigning. Posters must be removed promptly following the election. Dates for the election TBA.
  • The senior/parent dinner will be held April 20, 2017 at a location yet to be determined. As was put in place last year, this will be a ticketed event, with tickets purchased in advance for the dinner. Further information regarding the dinner will be forthcoming from Ms. Beth Newberry in room 84.
  • Grad Bashinformation is still being processed and will be available at a later date from Ms. Ruby Hall in room 86.
  • Senior Pictures: If you missed the opportunity to take pictures over the summer, we will have a makeup day on Monday, October 24. (formals) Check with Paul Sidney about senior pictures. The sitting fee price is $15.00 (no proofs) or $30.00 (with proofs) and will ensure that your student’s picture is in the yearbook. Cap and Gown photos will be taken on April 7, 2017.
  • Yearbook Ads: If you are interested in a Senior Ad for the yearbook, prices start at $250.00 for a full color ad, $150.00 for a half color page and $85.00 for a quarter color page ad. The deadline for Year book ads will be November 4.

ALL OUTSTANDING FEES AND FINES MUST BE PAID PRIOR TO GRADUATION OR DIPLOMAS WILL BE HELD.
