Dear Parents,

For our children, Halloween is one of the biggest events of the year. Here at EARThS, we’re going to celebratethis American tradition by embracing it.Get ready… It’s time for ourHalloween Parade!

The Halloween Parade will take place on the morning of Friday, October 30thstarting at 8:15 (right when the bell rings) and will only last about 20 minutes or so. However, as you can probably imagine, conducting even a simple parade with well over 500 students in costume takes a lot of planning!

Therefore,we’ll have some guidelines in place that will need to be followed to ensure a smooth event. Please follow them strictly if your child is going to participate!

If you do not want your child to participate you have a few options:

  1. You can bring your child to school at 8:40 with no penalty.
  2. Your child can be dropped off at the regular time and remain in the Library for alternate activities until the parade ends.
  3. Your child can wear RED for Red Ribbon Week and walk in the parade with us (or in their Spirit Wear or uniform)

COSTUME GUIDELINES:

  • Kids participating have to wear their costume OVER their clothes for easy removal afterwards.
  • To avoid a few hundred kids changing in the bathrooms at one time, ALL COSTUMES MUST COME OFF IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE PARADE. Kids can then hand them to their parents or place them in their backpacks. No one should need a private place for changing!
  • Please remember we're an elementary school. No weapons and no excessive blood or gore. Most of our kindergarteners are 5 years old so ALL costumes MUST be appropriate! Thank you!
  • For safety reasons (along with a few other reasons), we have to be able to tell who is who. Therefore, masks must stay off until the actual parade begins. Please remember only mild masks
  • Make-up/face paint will not be allowed for the same reason we need easy costumes: We can't have hundreds of kids in the bathrooms removing their make-up in the sink!

Students in costumes that do not follow the guidelines above WILL NOT participate. Please read through these guidelines with your children ahead of time.

I realize it seems like a long list of things we're not allowing but we're an elementary school and this event is happening during what would normally be highly-valued instructional time.Students are expected to go back to work right when the parade ends.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation and I hope to see you all there!

Jeff Rickert,

Principal
