View of Grand Prélocated on the Bay of Fundy’s Minas Basin in Nova Scotia.

This is the land of Evangeline, heroine of Longfellow's famous poem of that name.

“This is the forest primeval, the murmuring pines and the hemlocks,

Bearded with moss, and in garments green, indistinct in the twilight,”

UNESCO World Heritage Site: “The Landscape of Grand Pré is an exceptional living agricultural landscape, claimed from the sea in the 17th century and still in use today applying the same technology and the same community-based management. Grand Pré is also the iconic place of remembrance of the Acadians who lived in harmony with the native Mi’Kmaq people before the Expulsion which began in 1755. Its memorial constructions form the centre of the symbolic re-appropriation of the land of their origins by the Acadians, in the 20th century, in a spirit of peace and cultural sharing with the local area community.”

Explore the Bay of Fundy, and see the highest tides in the world (more than 50 feet change in height twice each day)! The Bay of Fundy is a 270km(170 mile) long ocean bay that stretches between the provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia on Canada’s east coast. Each day 160 billion tonnes of seawater flows in and out of the Bay of Fundy during one tide cycle, more than the combined flow of the world’s freshwater rivers!
