Meeting Minutes, June 21, 2017, 7:00 pm

Neighbors in attendance at the Bethel Building (adjacent to HCMC Imaging Center) were: Ray Harding, Noragene Harding, Kathy Herrera, Susan Jones, Sheree Johnson, Shannon McFarlin, Ed Roberts, Vickey Roberts, Pat Terrell, Rachel Terrell, Kelli Zwayer. Guests: Terry Wimberley and Charlie West BPU

6:30 – 7:00 – Social time was enjoyed with lots of good snacks.

President Ed Roberts opened the meeting and welcomed BPU Manager Terry Wimberley and colleague Charlie West, business analyst.

Presentation

Wimberley and West discussed the BPU’s interest in creating good relationships with their customers. They are a non-profit power provider, which is a great, low-cost business model for customers. They discussed how to reduce home energy usage, encouraged customers to use the Smart Hub app as a resource to save energy and to call the BPU energy advisors with questions about energy efficiency.

No treasurer’s report

OLD BUSINESS

Little Library – The community has been generous. Tayloe Glass, Wynn’s Custom Cabinet andLowesall contributed items or help. The City of Paris will contribute workers to set up the structure. It will be placed near the AP Dog Park for visibility.

Red Roof Inn at 311 Jackson Street –Ed reported that we are top on the City’s priority list. They will give us a week’s notice to get a press release out and organize a gathering. Ed has gotten the taxes reduced from $726 to $100. Insurance is approximately $600 a year and there is $20-25 month for some utilities and perhaps a security light.

Neighborhood Watch (NW) – Vickey reported that Chief Elizondo reported that from June 11 – June 16 the speed monitor was on Edgewood and recordedonecar going between 41 and 50 mph; 50 carstravelling between 31-40 mph. Plans were to move it to Ogburn Street. The police have not yet gotten information to Vickey re where the AP Neighborhood rates re crime, but she was told this neighborhood has one of the lowest crime rates in town.

Ice Cream Social – This fun event is the last Saturday in July on the courthouse lawn from 4-6 pm. Volunteers are needed to help put up and/or take down the HAPNA booth or work during the event. Committee membersAnnette Douglas, Rhonda Diaz, Vickey Roberts, Sheree Johnson and Susan Jones will meet next week. See additional info on FB or Nextdoor.

NEW BUSINESS

Jernigan’s Bricks – The Jernigans have offered a number of old bricks to the association. They need to be removed by Saturday, June 24. Volunteers to move the bricks at 321 Head Street were Ed and Vickey, Kelli Zwayer, Pat Terrell, Ray Harding and Susan Jones. Shree Johnson volunteered to store the bricks till they were needed.

Elections - Ed reminded us that October is the month we elect officers.

With no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.

1
