Molly Kaufman: (Dan intro) is development director at Glen Allen Arts Center (hereafter GAAC), formerly Old Glen Allen High School, then Middle school - Henrico County purchased & used to train firemen, etc. – THEN, 10-15 years ago became 350 seat theater, then 2nd Stage added – this is Molly’s favorite - performance once per month of“different local bands” - Celtic, Jazz & Blue Grass, interesting locals. Capital steps kicks off the fall season – 3 shows this September - political parody group – nobody is safe (assume that probably means they may mention Trump at some point) – 1 on Fri 9/8 and 2 Shows Sat 9/9/17 – Club interested in having dinner and attending one of these shows – GAAC also has 4 art galleries: Currently Lego exhibit set up as Portraits – incredible – go and see for yourself – part of their mission is to publicly support local artists & pay a good commission. Many Corporate & Family events. Partner w/ Henrico Theater Co. & Latin Ballet. GAAC on 15 acres, also have a ballroom. 5 years ago – wanted to start giving back to community w/ Police Athletic League (PAL) that brings in at risk kids – developed arts, dance, and theater groups in Richmond Area Schools, now have a summer camp. Most important thing is summer time – the kids are more at risk, don’t get meals like during school year. Join the kids up w/ STEM program – joining arts helps open up creative side of brain to do better at STEM scores. Kids see themselves succeed & be around mentors & role models. 3 years ago Molly started there and GAAC started senior programs in low income areas to get creative programs & help mentally stimulate seniors with classes, art, music, theatre. Supported by? Buildings and grounds owned by Henrico County. Other than that , run as non-profit business, pay own insurance, pay employees – Molly is a Grant Writer – Funding comes from grant writing , corporate donors, group donations, estate windfalls, individual sponsorships, she has been on development side for 3 years. Her mission this year is educate and develop individual sponsorships. She wants Community to be aware. Ticket sales & classes keep down money. $45 is highest ticket – most around $15. 2nd stage can get a reserved seat for more money. Offer summer scholarships to needy kids. Work w/SPARC
