Registering

Team Registration forms can be obtained from the GHA Webpage or from the GHA Facebook page. Completed forms can be emailed to: before October 13th.

If you are without a team, we can place you in a team - just fill in your details on a form and return to GHA as above.

All players MUST be registered with HockeyNSW prior to taking the field for insurance purposes. Please contact GHA if this applies to you or a member of your team and you have any questions.Umpires

Teams will be listed to supply umpires to do their own umpiring. If required your team may find and pay an umpire. Please remember that the competition is a fun one & that the umpires are there to gain valuable experience and to have fun as well.

Notes:

  • Game start times; 5:45pm, 6:40pm and 7:35pm if needed.
  • Bar will be open i.e. all drinks are available. Lollies, crisps, nuts, ice creams etc. but not hot food.

Teams

  1. A team consists of a maximum of 10 players with a maximum of 6 on the field of play at any one time.
  2. A minimum of 5 players is required before taking the field.
  3. Players may sub-on and sub-off at will at any time during the game.
  4. Players can only be registered in 1 team, but may fill in for other teams where needed.

Duration of games

Games will be played over 2 x 20-minute periods with a 5-minute break at half time. Games will start and finish on the hooter. There is be a 5-minute break between games to allow teams to get off the field and to allow teams playing the next game to warm up.

Hitting the ball

  1. Players are reminded that the ball may not be HIT at any time, although slap shots are permitted.
  2. A slap shot is when the stick is pushed onto the ball across the surface of the field.

No raising the ball

  1. The ball can be lifted but must not be raised above knee level.
  2. The ball must not be raised into a player including the goalkeeper in any instance.
  3. The ball must not be raised on a free hit.

Scoring goals

  1. A goal may be scored from anywhere on the field, except when played directly from a free hit/push off. There are no goal circles.
  2. The ball passing over the goal line is sufficient to score a goal.
  3. Balls may NOT be raised into the goal UNLESS deflected by a defender.

Free hits

  1. At all times, all opposition players must be at least 5 metres from the free hit.
  2. The free hit must not be raised.
  3. A free hit can not be taken any closer than 5 metres from the goal box.
  4. A free hit in the goal box area requires ALL players (from both teams) to be at least 5 metres from the free hit.
  5. All corners must be taken from the side line points (approximately 5 metres from the back line) on the side the ball goes over the back line.
  6. Any deliberate breach in the goal box area (being within 5 metres of the goal box), which prevents a goal being scored, will result in a free hit being awarded within 5 metres of the goal area.

Tackles

A clean tackle occurs when 1 player is able to take the ball from another player’s stick. No sliding tackles at any time. No body tackles. Hockey is a non-contact sport.
