In this practical component, learners are introduced to 3D printing. They will select an object andtemplate for printing and will use software to edit, before printing.

Standard 1
Learners will:
Be able to edit a digital file for 3D printing
Learnersshould be able to:
a. / Select an object for printing
b. / Identify apurpose for the selected object
c. / Select a template for printing
d. / Select a colour scheme for the object
e. / Edit the object
Assessment:
This standard is assessed internally by the centre and externally verified by AIM Awards. Please read this guidance in conjunction with Appendix 1 - A Guide to Assessing AIM Awards Qualifications.
The following assessment methods can be used in the assessment of this standard:
  • Observation of learner practical ability
  • Written tasks/questions and answers
  • Oral questions and answers
  • Written or pictorial information
