Dear Softball Participant:

Enclosed are the softball bracket, field directions, and rules for the Capitol Sports Association ASA tournament for

16 and 18 and Class “B” 10, 12 and 14 girls fast pitch teams. The tournament is being held in Davis and Dixon, California at the Playfield Complex, Davis High School and Civic Field Community Park in Davis, and Hall Park in Dixon, Ca.

Each division will play a seeding round of three games on Saturday to determine placement for the single elimination tournament, which will take place on Sunday. While the Sunday schedule is included in this package, the Sunday bracket will be posted Saturday at the tournament sites and on www.capitolsports.org by Thursday evening.

On Saturday, Managers are responsible for providing to tournament personnel a phone number and contact person to obtain game time for the single elimination event.

Awards for this event are as follows:

1st place: Team trophy plus 14 individual awards

2nd place: Team trophy plus 14 individual awards

Directions to Fields

Playfield Complex, Davis, CA

From Sacramento go west on 80 to San Francisco. Take the Richards Blvd East exit and go over the overpass to Research Park Drive (a Chevron gas station is on the left). Turn left on Research Park Drive and proceed to Complex.

From San Francisco, go east on 80 to Sacramento. Take the Richards Blvd East exit and turn left at the exit light. Go to Research Park Drive (a Chevron gas station is on the left). Turn left on Research Park Drive and proceed to Complex.

Community Park and Field A , Davis CA

From Sacramento take the Richards Blvd West Exit. GO under the underpass into Davis to 5th Street. Turn left and proceed to “B” Street. Turn right and go to 14th Street. Community Park is directly in front of you. The lighted Softball Diamond is in the middle of the park behind the swimming pool. Field A is located down the third base line from the Community lighted field.

The High School is directly in front of you and next to Community Park. The Varsity field is located at the far end of the fields.

From San Francisco take the Richards Blvd Exit. Turn right and go under the underpass into the city of Davis to 5th Street. Turn left and proceed to “B” Street. The High School is directly in front of you and next to Community Park. The Varsity field is located at the far end of the fields.

Coming from Sacramento - Highway 80 to Dixon 113 exit. Go over the freeway and proceed down 113 in to Dixon. Turn left on West ”A” Street and proceed to 4th street. Turn right at 4th street and proceed to Hall Park. The diamond closest is #1. Diamond # 2 is the unlighted softball field, Diamond # 3 is on the far left.

Coming from San Francisco – Highway 80 take the Dixon Avenue Exit. This street becomes “A” Street. Proceed down “A” street. Turn right at 4th street and proceed to Hall Park. The diamond closest is #1. Diamond # 2 is the unlighted softball field, Diamond # 3 is on the far left.

GIRLS FASTPITCH SOFTBALL

TOURNAMENT RULES

·  Any changes to a team roster must be made with the tournament site director prior to the start of a team’s first game.

·  Home team will be determined by a flip of a coin and is the official book.

·  No infield warm-ups between games.

·  Metal Cleats are allowed for the 16 and 18 program only

·  Game time is forfeit time.

·  On Saturday a team can bat everybody in there lineup and also have unlimited courtesy runners (anybody on your team. You can’t use the same runner in the same inning).

·  On Sunday, with the exceptions noted below, straight ASA rules are used

·  Extra Player is allowed and listed as an EP on the line-up card. The extra player can be listed anywhere in the batting order. Any 9 of the 10 batters listed, can play defense and will be known as FREE DEFENSIVE SUBSTITUTION. Any change of the 10th batter to a defensive player will not be a substitution. The DP/Flex may also be used in addition to the EP.

·  A 15 run rule after any inning, 12 after 3 innings. 10 after 4, and 8 after 5 will apply for all games. For seeding games only, if a team has a 10 run lead when the time limit expires, the drop dead rule is applied, and the score at the time of the expiration of time is used.

·  All games except the championship game have a one hour and 20 minute time limit, with no new inning after the time limit. The championship game will have one hour and thirty minute time limit.

·  For the seeding placement only, games ending in a tie after the time limit will not continue. For purposes of the seeding placement, each team will be awarded a half win.

·  The international tiebreaker will be used in the single elimination tournament.

·  The Pitcher and Catcher speed up rule will apply to all games.

·  The tournament or site director will resolve protests.

POOL TIE BREAKERS FORMULA FOR EACH PLACEMENT, i.e. first place is first determine, then the full formula is reapplied to second, third and fourth in that order:
