Daisy Girl Scouts

Hello Troop Leaders,

These are the badges that will be offered for the November 18, 2016 overnight event. Please choose either the Petals or the Financial Literacy Leaves that you would like your troop to complete. When you are filling out your registration form, check the box with the badge you want your troop to complete. Please note that some badges will not be fully completed during the overnight. The guides overseeing the badge will notify you what requirement you will still need to complete for each scout the complete the badge.

Honest & Fair
Lupe
/ 1. Talk about "Lupe's Story."
2. Act out the story with your Daisy friends -- each girl can take a different part.
3. Practice being honest and fair.
When I’ve earned my Lupe Petal, I will know how to be honest and fair, just like Lupe the Lupine. / Sit and read the story in the Parent Resource Library with your troop. Then act it out and discuss. Practice being honest and fair within your troop.
Friendly & Helpful
Sunny
/ 1. Enjoy "Sunny's Story," then talk about it.
2. Make a mural based on "Sunny's Story" with your Daisy friends.
3. Practice being friendly and helpful.
When I’ve earned my Sunny Petal, I will know how to be friendly and helpful, just like Sunny the Sunflower. / Sit and read the story in Kidtropolis with your troop. Discuss the story and then use the Art Academy to create a mural. Practice being friendly and helpful in the HEB Market.
Considerate & Caring
Zinni
/ 1. Talk about "Zinni's Story."
2. Come up with ideas of how to be like Zinni.
3. Practice being considerate and caring.
When I’ve earned my Zinni petal, I will know how to be considerate and caring, just like Zinni the Zinnia. / Sit and read the story in Junktion Hall with your troop. Discuss the story come up with ideas on how to be like Zinni and practice being considerate and caring.

Courageous & Strong Tula
/ 1. Talk about "Tula's Story."
2. Make an art gallery celebrating women who are courageous and strong.
3. Practice being courageous and strong.
When I’ve earned my Tula petal, I will know how to be courageous and strong, just like Tula the Tulip. / Sit and read the story in Kidtropolis with your troop. Discuss the story and then use the Art Academy to create pictures of courageous and strong women the scouts know. Ask the scouts to talk about the woman in their picture. Practice being courageous and strong within your troop.
Responsible For What I Say & Do
Mari
/ 1. Talk about "Mari's Story."
2. With your Daisy friends, act out different ways to be responsible during the day -- from the time you wake up to the time you go to bed!
3. Practice being responsible for what you say and do.
When I’ve earned my Mari petal, I will know how to be responsible for what I say and do, just like Mari the Marigold. / Sit in Heart & Seoul of Korea and read the story with your troop. Discuss the story them act out different ways to be responsible during the day with the gallery supplies. Practice being responsible for what your say and do within your troop.
Respect Myself & Others
Gloria
/ 1. Talk about "Gloria's Story."
2. Invite an older Girl Scout to talk to your group about ways to respect yourself and others.
3. Practice respecting yourself and others.
When I’ve earned my Gloria petal, I will know how to respect myself and others, just like Gloria the Morning Glory. / Sit in How Does It Work and read the story with your troop. Invite an older Girl Scout to talk to your troop. Practice respecting yourself and others while your get ready for bed this evening.

Respect Authority Gerri
/ 1. Talk about "Gerri's Story."
2. Visit someone who has authority in your community, such as a police officer, firefighter, or your school principal.
3. Practice respecting authority.
When I’ve earned my Gerri petal, I will know how to respect authority, just like Gerri the Geranium. / Sit in Junktion Hall and read the story to your troop. Discuss the story and ask the security office at the front to talk about their work. (If not, talk to someone at a different time to complete the petal requirements) Practice respecting authority within your troop.
Use Resources Wisely Clover
/ 1. Talk about "Clover's Story."
2. Make a collage using old magazines or postcards.
3. Practice being resourceful.
When I’ve earned my Clover petal, I will know how to use resources wisely, just like Clover / Sit in Invention Convention and read the story to your troop. Discuss the story with your troop. Use the supplies provided (that have been reused!) to create parachutes, rockets or other inventions! Practice being resourceful within your troop.
Make the World a Better Place Rosie
/ 1. Talk about "Rosie's Story."
2. Act out the story with your Daisy friends.
3. Practice making the world a better place.
When I’ve earned my Rosie petal, I will know how to make the world a better place, just like Rosie the Rose. / Sit in Heart & Seoul of Korea and read the story to your troop. Discuss the story with your troop. Act out the story using the props in the exhibit. Practice making the world a better place, starting with your trip to the museum!

Be a Sister to Every Girl Scout Vi
/ 1. Talk about "Vi's Story."
2. Create a mural about girls around the world with your Daisy friends.
3. Practice being a sister to every Girl Scout.
When I’ve earned my Vi petal, I will know how to be a sister to every Girl Scout, just like Vi the Violet. / Sit and read the story in Kidtropolis with your troop. Discuss the story and then use the Art Academy to create a mural depicting Juliette Gordon Low’s idea to have girls all around the world participate in scouts. Practice being a sister to every Girl Scout with the other scouts tonight at the museum.
Promise Center
Daisy
/ Daisies earn the Promise Center by saying the Girl Scout Promise and talking about what it means to them. / On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

When I've earned this leaf, I'll know more about money and what it's worth. / Use your Daisy Handbook to help you out!
Visit the Bank of America Bank in Kidtropolis.
1.  Look at different types of coins and talk about them.
2.  Look at paper money and find out all about the US Mint.
3.  Talk to your leaders about how they earned money for your overnight trip to the museum.
Making Choices
Financial Literacy
/ There are things we need, and there are things we want. Both cost money! Let's find out the difference.
1. Find out the difference between needs and wants.
2. Try setting a goal to save for what you want.
3. Help others with what they need and want.
When I've earned this leaf, I'll know more about how to make choices about using money. / Use your Daisy Handbook to help you out!
Visit the Bank of America Bank in Kidtropolis.
1.  Talk with in your troop to figure out the ‘needs’ vs ‘wants’ when playing in Kidtropolis.
2.  When working in Kidtropolis, earn paychecks to save up for tuition at the Art Academy.
3.  Talk to the other scouts to see what they ‘want’ vs ‘need’ and help them come up with a plan to save money.
