GEOMETRY AROUND THE WORLD PROJECT

You are going to participate in a geometry scavenger hunt. You will go around the school and collect photos of the following items.

1. Right triangle

2. Acute triangle

3. Obtuse triangle

4. Angle bisector

5. Collinear points

6. Non-collinear points

7. 2 parallel lines

8. 2 perpendicular lines

9. A pair of vertical angles formed by two intersecting lines

10. A pair of adjacent angles

11. A pair of opposite rays

12. A line intersecting a plane

13. Parallel Planes

14. A pair of corresponding angles

15. 2 lines cut by a transversal

16. 2 intersecting planes

CRITERIA:

Your project has to have a THEME (sports, travel, cars, etc.) Your pictures should come from your own photographs (use a camera/cell phone) in a real life setting. Please be CREATIVE with your project. Only one picture can be submitted from any single category to count towards your grade. There are 16 categories.

PROCEDURE:

After you have collected your photos:

  • Label each picture with the proper category
  • Write a one-two sentence description of each photo and explain why you used the photo and how it fits the theme.
  • The writing must be clear, neat and legible (if hand-written). Typed is preferred

WRITING PART:

1 Page double-spaced:

  • Explain why you chose the theme you did and whether it was easy or difficult to find photos to fit the theme. Also write about what you learned while doing this project.

PRESENTATION:

You will create a presentation using Prezi ( Prezi is easy to use and is similar to creating a PowerPoint, but has different visual effects that can be accessed online.
