Gearhouse Broadcast and Hitachi to Demonstrate Exclusive Partnership with Fully Equipped HD OB Trailer at IBC2013

Affordability and flexibility at the heart of new OB trailer design

Watford, 3 September 2013 –Gearhouse Broadcast(Hall 10 Stand 10.B39) will demonstrate itstechnical expertise at IBC2013 with a fully-equipped, live production HD OB trailer located at the Hitachi standin Hall 11 (11.D42). The custom-built trailer can easily house aseven- to eight-person production and operation crew andfeatures eight Hitachi camera channels.

The installation has been designed and built by Gearhouse Broadcast’s systems integration division as an affordable and more flexible OB option, easy to up- or down-spec as required and built on a compact footprint. The trailer offers low power consumption, ergonomic design and features a production gallery, audio workstations and an engineering control area.

The trailer being demonstrated at IBC2013 showcases an end-to-end live HD production workflow and is kitted out with eight Hitachi camera channels (sevenSK-HD1200 portable-type production cameras and oneSK-HD1500 6G Super Slow-Motion camera); a Ross Carbonite vision mixer; a Harris Platinum router and Glue; Harris test and measurement systems; a Studer Vista audio mixer; and a Harris Inscriber CG system. There are Marshall video monitors throughout the trailer, along with full talkback capabilities.

“This trailer targets a very specific – and currently underserved - part of the OB market, where we have industry leading expertise, with an affordable and flexible HD vehicle. We’ve made no compromise at all on quality or design, but have still come up with a trailer that offers the full range of OB functionality,is fast to build and ideal for a range of applications. We see this OB set-up being used for everything from IPTV and live web streaming productions to red carpet events, festivals and smaller six to ten camera live sports broadcast projects,” said Eamonn Dowdall, Business Development Directorof Gearhouse Broadcast. “When you’re looking at a big OB truck or supertruck, there’s a significant cost associated – and that’s before you’ve even thought about kitting it out. This is something we’re aiming at a very different segment of the OB market.”

Gearhouse Broadcast, which will be in Hall 10 at IBC2013 on stand 10.B39,is also providing two Hitachi cameras– the6G Super Slow-Motion Camera SK-HD1500 and the 3G Portable type Production Camera SK-HD1200 –tothe IBC Production Insight area in Hall 11, where visitors can see them in action.
