The Commissioner of Police, Delhi reserves the right to decide finally by whom the reward has been earned and in what proportion it will be distributed amongst various claimants, in case more than one claimant comes forward for the same.

SPECIAL CELL

A team of officers under the supervision of Sh Ravi Shankar, ACP led by Inspr. Attar Singh and Inspr. Upender Solanki has apprehended two key members namely Mahesh Kumar R/o Loni, Distt. Gaziabad (UP). and Mohammad Umar R/o Seelampur, Delhi of Inter State gang of highway robbers led by Shahid Mewati. Over ten cases of robbery/dacoits, burglary, etc in Delhi and UP have been worked out. Two country made Pistols of .315 bore alongwith two live cartridges, two mobile phones, one scooter and one M/Cycle have been recovered from their possession.

A secret information was received by Inspr. Attar Singh about the presence members of Shahid Mewati Gang in the Trans-Yamuna area. Sources were activated. On 27.02.2010, a specific information was received that the two members of this gang would visit New Usmanpur. Accordingly, a trap was laid near Northern India Engineering College, New Usmanpur, Delhi from where they were arrested at about 6.45 PM with weapons. A case under the appropriate section of law was registered at PS Special Cell, Lodhi Colony, New Delhi.

Both the accused persons were subjected to sustained interrogation wherein it was revealed that they alongwith other members of gang are involved in many sensational highway robberies in Delhi and NCR areas. The modus operandi of this gang was to first, identify a target truck laden with expensive goods. Thereafter the gang used to waylaid the truck at an isolated spot where they took drivers and the cleaners as hostage. The gang then took the looted truck to their godown and unloaded the goods. After unloading the goods the gang used to take the driver and cleaner in the empty truck and then released the driver and cleaner at an isolated spot. The gang then used to sell off the looted goods to one Abdul Salam R/o Seelampur (already arrested on 12.2.2010) and one Bada Munna R/o Shastri Park, Delhi. Both are notorious receivers of looted articles. Some of the sensational involvement of the gang in the recent past are:

On 24.11.2009, the gang robbed 4-Tonnes of Brass worth Rs. 40 Lakhs near Gokul Puri fly-over. On 22.11.2009, the gang looted Tea, Ghee,Toys and other miscellaneous items worth Rs. 20 Lakhs from Timar Pur area. On 13.11.2009, the gang robbed Bidies worth Rs. 20 Lakhs from Karawal Nagar, Delhi. On 3.11.2009, the gang robbed iron wheels, Tea and Almonds worth Rs. 20 Lakhs from the area of Nangloi, Delhi. On 30.12.2009, the gang robbed Tea Bags weighing 8.880 Kgs worth Rs. 60 Lakhs from the area of Alipur, Delhi. In November-2009, the gang robbed paint worth Rs. 30 Lakhs from Agra. On 12.10.2009, the gang robbed bales of cloth worth Rs. 20 Lakhs from the area of Shahdara, Delhi. On 10.10.2009, the gang robbed readymade clothes worth Rs. 20 Lakhs from Gandhi Nagar, Delhi. On 04.12.2009, the gang robbed Almonds worth Rs. 40 Lakhs from New Usmanpur, Delhi. On 15.01.2010, the gang robbed Copper slabs worth Rs. 60 Lakhs from M.S.Park, Delhi.

Accused Mahesh has also been previously arrested in more than six criminal cases in Delhi but not attending the courts. Mohammad Umar is son of Abdul Salam, a gang member. He is involved in further disposal of the robbed goods. Efforts are on to apprehend the other members of this gang including Bada Munna.

SENSATIONAL THEFT AT LAWYER’S CHAMBERS, KARKARDOOMA COURT COMPLEX SOLVED, NOTORIOUS SUPER THIEF RAMJI LAL @ PAPPU HELD ALONG WITH ASSOCIATES

With the arrest of 1. Ramji Lal @ Pappu (Gang leader) s/o Parshuram r/o H.No. 2/393, Trilok Puri, Delhi. Aged 30 yrs : 2. Sudhir Kumar s/o Tilakraj r/o H.No. 7/19, Yudhisther Gali, Vishwas Nagar, Delhi. and 3. Munesh Kumar Gupta s/o Kanti Prasad r/o H.No 89A-1, Gali No. 13, Guru Angad Nagar Extn, Laxmi Nagar, Delhi. Special Staff of East District has cracked a sensational burglary committed in the chamber of a layer Sh. R.S. Goswami situated in Kakrdooma Court Complex,Delhi on 23.08.09 and recovered stolen cash amounting to Rs. 1.97 lacs, Maruti Car and a Scooter purchased from stolen cash.

INCIDENT

On 23.08.09 a Lawyer practicing at Karkardooma Court and having his Chamber inside the court complex reported at P.S. Anand Vihar,Delhi that Rs. 14.20 Lakhs have been stolen from his chamber by breaking the locks and the almairah .

INVESTIGATION AND ARREST

Taking into account the gravity of the case the Special Staff of East Distt. was assigned the task to nab the desperate gang of criminals. A team comprising SI Vinay Yadav, SI Satendra Khari, ASI Manoj Kumar, ASI Sukhbir Singh, HC Manoj Kumar, HC Dharmender, HC Praveen Kumar, HC Ashok Rana, HC Sirmohar Meena, , HC Umesh,, Ct. Sanjeev,Ct Naresh,Ct Shyam Singh, Ct Shatrughan, Ct. Vishesh, Ct. Tehzib ,Ct. Praveen Yadav, Ct. Lokendra and Ct. Yashpal Singh, under the close supervision of Insp. Rohitas Kumar I/C Spl. Staff East under overall supervision of Sh. G S Meena ACP/Operation was constituted and investigation was taken up. During the course of investigation, the team of special staff tried to develop various information on the basis of modus operandi of criminals but since such a daring burglary in the lawyer’s chamber was not common in Delhi hence no clue could be obtained. Painstaking efforts were then made by the special staff and the criminal intelligence system/information was activated. All the employees of lawyer chambers including Munshis of advocates, tea vendors etc were interrogated at length but no clue developed. All the Jail Releases of recent past were scrutinized and verified and during this process a secret information was received that Ramji Lal, an interstate burglar is involved in this burglary. After continuous work of more than one month, based on the input received by HC Praveen Kumar on 27.02.10 the team apprehended Ramji Lal who disclosed that he has committed the burglary in the Lawyer’s Chamber, Karkardooma Courts along with his associate namely Sunil @ Nawwa.

INTERROGATION

On Sustained interrogation Ramji Lal disclosed that he is a professional thief and has committed several burglaries in Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, Karnal, Ambala, Delhi and NCR Region. In the year 2006, he along with his associates committed burglary in Competent Automobiles amounting to several lacs of rupees.With the help of Muneesh Kumar,a Munshi in the Court and Sudhir Kumar, a tea vendor, they got the information that a huge amount of money is kept in the chamber of an advocate Sh. R.S. Gioswami at which he and his gang members made a recee of the Chamber. He even visited the office from inside and got an idea of the location. On the night of 22/23.08.09, he along with his associate namely Sunil came to Karkardooma and stayed there whole night on the rooftop. At around 6AM Ramji Lal and Sunil entered the chamber and decamped with cash more than 14 lacs of rupees. As the main gate of chambers were not yet opened, so both of them came down with the help of a pipe. After this all of them shared the booty. One interesting fact of this burglary is that the licencee weapon of complainant was also kept in the locker, but both the burglars avoided the weapon and was not stolen by them. On interrogation he told that if they have stolen the licencee pistol then it would become more sensational and they might be tracked through the pistol.

RECOVERY

1.  Rs. One Lakh Ninety Seven Thousand .

2.  One Maruti 800 car allegedly purchased from the stolen money.

3.  One Bajaj Chetak Scooter allegedly purchased from the stolen money.

1. Ramji Lal @ Pappu (Gang leader) s/o Parshuram r/o H.No. 2/393, Trilok Puri, Delhi.aged 30 years is a habitual criminal. He is the gang leader. From an early age he used to commit crime and is involved in burglaries of Mumbai, Kalyan, Thane, Karnal, Ambala and Delhi.

2. Sudhir Kumar s/o Tilakraj r/o H.No. 7/19, Yudhisther Gali, Vishwas Nagar, Delhi.

aged 47 years is a tea vendor by profession and runs a tea shop on Fourth Floor of Lawyer’s Chambers, Karkardooma Court.

3. Munesh Kumar Gupta s/o Kanti Prasad r/o H.No 89A-1, Gali No. 13, West Guru Angad Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Delhi aged 49 years is a munshi by profession and works in court for last several years. He is a Bad Character of PS Shakar Pur and he was currently working as a Munshi in the Karkardooma Court,Delhi .

The investigation is still in progress and efforts are being made to recover the rest of the stolen booty and the absconding accused. The Special Staff police team of East Delhi which has done a commendable job in working out this sensational case is being suitably rewarded.

South District Police has apprehended four accused persons and solved more than 25 cases of sensational robberies and carjacking in Delhi, Gurgaon and NCR including looting case of ATM Machine in Gurgaon and carjacking case involving a relative of High Court Judge.
