FIAT: FASTEST OVER THE WAVES!

Fiat, sailed by Michael Coxon, Aaron Links and Nathan Ellis, has taken the JJ Giltinan 18ft Skiff Championship, retaining their title as the world’s best 18ft skiff crew, with a race to spare at the weekend (24-25 February 2007).

Michael Coxon, Aaron Links and Nathan Ellis fought off tough opposition from the young ‘Gotta Love It 7’ crew of Seve Jarvin, Sam Newton and Robert Bell and ‘Asko Appliances’ lead by Hugh Stodart with a week of consistent and strong performances in a wide range of weather and sailing conditions on Sydney Harbour.

“Our congratulations for a job well done go to Michael, Aaron and Nathan,” says David Stone, General Manager for Fiat cars in Australia. “They have more than repaid our confidence in their abilities for our first venture in yachting in Australia. The 18ft Skiffs, and Fiat in particular, have provided high performance, skilled and exciting sailing on Sydney Harbour, a perfect match for the their yacht’s namesake, the Fiat Punto, and we look forward to developing our links with Australian sailing after our debut success!”
