Group Project

For this project you will research the fashion, styles, trends, fads and designers of a decade or period of history as assigned. You will create a collection of contemporary clothing (3 outfits) that is INSPIRED by that period of time.

The project: Create a poster with pictures, clothing designs and written information. Present the poster to class along with an oral presentation to inform us about the specific details of the period or decade.

Poster: (may use 18 x 24” paper)

3 drawings of complete outfits ----- at least one of a man

Labels and written information that outline (no paragraphs!) the period

Information that you will speak about in the presentation

One person or designer—picture, name, short bio and most famous “look”

of that decade

Oral Presentation:

What was going on in history?

Who was the president or ruler of the country or area?

What were the current economic conditions or standard of living?

Did music influence the styles of the times?

Who were the famous people of the decade?

What was the LOOK? (hairstyles, clothes, accessories, etc.)

Give a brief biography of one prominent fashion designer or important

person of the period and his/her influence or style or fashion

Discuss the elements of design in the clothing—color, line,

silhouette, space, texture that you incorporated in to the new contemporary outfits you designed
