Information on the application and admission process

-Please complete the form typewritten or on the computer. Illegible applications cannot be considered. The form must be filled in English.

-Deadline for application (receiving date) for the Master’s Programme 2010/11 is April 15 2010.

-Applications sent by fax or email will not be accepted. Please send the original and one copy of your application plus the required documents by air or surface mail.

This application is the first step in a two-step-application procedure, as application to the entrance institution involves supplementary requirements, usually of a procedural kind. Upon acceptance of your candidacy by the selection committee you will be informed about the procedure for application for admission at the respective university. Acceptance by the Joint Degree programme facilitates but does not in itself guarantee admission to the entrance institution.

Section 0 – ReceivingUniversity

Fill in the address of the university you chose to be your entrance university (you will find the address and name of the academic coordinator in the “contact” section on the webpage). As places for the study programme are limited at each university, please specify a second partner university you would consider as your potential entrance university in section 4. Please be aware of the fact that in order to choose the University of Graz as your entrance university proof of your German proficiency (level C 1) needs to presented when applying to the university in the fall.

Section 1 – Student’s personal data

Correspondence address: All communication connected with your application and admission process of the Master’s programme will go to this address. Any address changes have to be communicated immediately.

Section 3 – Language Competence

Students must show proficiency in English. You have to submit an original and recent certificate of an IELTS (required minimum score: 6.5), a TOEFL (required minimum score: 237 on the computerized test, 580 on the paper test, 93 on the Internet test), or an EFL (required minimum grade: B). English-native-speaking applicants and those who successfully completed an English-taught bachelor programme do not have to take this test.

Please indicate the knowledge of other languages by using the grading scale of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ( if no widely accepted test is applicable.

Each of the participating universities offers a variety of language courses in the local language.

Please be aware of the fact that in order to choose the University of Graz as your entrance university proof of your German proficiency (level C 1) needs to presented when applying to the university in the fall.

Section 4 – List of institutions for your mobility

The Master’s programme foresees students to spend a minimum of one semester and earn at least 30 ECTS-credits in mobility. Students can choose the second and/or third semester for this mobility. Places at each partner university are limited. The selection committee will decide upon the allocation of students to respective universities. Please specify a second partner university you would consider as your potential entrance university here and also rate your preferences for the mobility semester according to each semester as listed.

Section 5 - Enclosures

University diploma, Diploma supplement, Transcript of records: translations (into English). Where the degree is not yet conferred, the student will be asked to present proof of his / her status and can present the degree certificate at a later date.

Language Certificate: only the original certificate will be accepted.

Personal Motivation Letter: describe your academic and personal interest for applying. Include your research and career objectives and relevant (also non-academic) achievements. The letter should be written in English and not exceed two pages (Word processed or typewritten).
