East Forsyth Men’s Soccer (2014)

Read, Sign, and Return to Coach Stansell Before Participation

Eligibility

1)W-S/FC Schools Athletic Participation Form – All players must have this form filled out prior to pre-season workouts. A copy of this form is posted on the men’s soccer website. This form must be turned in to Coach Stansell prior to the first pre-season training.

2)Attendance – Any player wishing to play must have 10 or fewer absences the semester before trying out for the team.

3)2.0 QPA – This is a weighted C average. Players with less than this requirement can still try out for a team, but they must receive one to three hours of tutoring per week.

4)Birth Certificate – All incoming freshman and students new to East Forsyth must give a copy of their birth certificate to be kept on file throughout their high school career.

Season Preparation

1)Pre-Season Workouts – These workouts are a great way to get in shape for the season. In addition, players get to know each other, and the coaches can become familiar with new players prior to tryouts.

Fall Season Tryouts – Tryouts will begin the first week of August and last 3 days. Morning sessions will be at the East Forsyth Track (running shoes only) from 8am-9am and evening sessions will be at East Forsyth Middle (cleats and shinguards) from 6pm-8pm. Please check the website for exact dates.

Commitment Contract

As a player trying out for the East Forsyth Men’s Soccer Team, you are asked to read through this contract with your parents/guardians, and both you and your parents must sign this prior to being able to participate in preseason workouts, or tryout for the team.

We believe that commitment is the #1 indicator for success not only in the game of soccer, but also in life. We also believe that each individual must buy into the team concept, and that each individual has a huge impact on how the team comes together. As such there are a few things you must agree to in order to tryout and participate in the East Forsyth Men’s Soccer Program.

Commitment Policy

1) All players are expected to be on time to training.

2) All players are expected to be on time to pre-game meetings.

3) All players should have all equipment (cleats, flats, guards, etc.) for training and games.

Commitment Issues – Tardy

First Offense – 20 minutes of playing time

Second Offense – 40 minutes of playing time

Third & Fourth Offense – Entire Game

Fifth Offense – Dismissal from the Team

Commitment Issues – Missed Training or Game

First Offense – 40 minutes of playing time

Second Offense – An Entire Game

Third Offense – Dismissal from the Team

Miscellaneous

Missing training or a game for the following reasons is acceptable, but requires that the player bring a note from their parents/guardians.

1)Illness

2)Family Emergency

Any issues with school should be settled before school, or at a time that does not conflict with training. We do expect for our players to put academics first, but we also believe that players must prioritize so that they can excel in both school and soccer.

East Forsyth Soccer (Player Expectations)

Equipment

  1. Running Shoes, Cleats, and Shin Guards (Every Day).
  2. Proper Training Attire. Be prepared for warm weather, cold weather, wet weather, etc…

Pre-Training

  1. Training will begin at 4:15 PM each day. There will be an activity bus that will leave from the bus lot @ 4:00 PM each day. If you are ready, grab a ball and work on coervers, juggle, pass with a teammate, etc… You may talk with teammates, but be constructive while doing so.
  2. All Players – Prior to practice, you are expected to fill up all the coolers and water bottles, so we are ready to train, and can stay hydrated. All players are expected to help, we will notice if this is the same person every day, and we will come up with a creative way to help you become more of a team player.

Training

  1. When coaches are talking LISTEN. We do not want to repeat ourselves as this wastes time, and will make training less productive.
  2. If you don’t understand something ask questions. We want to build this program, and that requires we are on the same page.
  3. Be Positive. (Encourage your teammates, and be a positive influence).
  4. Give Maximum Effort. (Set an Example & Tone for Others.)

Post-Training

  1. Cool Down – Take the cool down seriously. All players should stretch properly. This is vital to muscle recovery, and injury prevention.
  2. Clean-Up Process
  • Balls – (bag – shed or coach’s car - ASK)
  • Cones & Pennies – (bag – shed or coach’s car - ASK)
  • Bottles & Coolers – (Stansell’s car or back to school)
  • Goals – (Put Away)

Everyone must help in the process. Make sure that you count the supplies, you are responsible for the equipment. If we lose anything, we will collect. This program costs money to run, and we work hard to get you quality equipment. Take care of it.

Off the Field

  1. Nutrition – It is imperative you eat and hydrate properly.
  2. 3 meals a day. (Extremely important for energy.)
  3. Water (72+ ounces a day.)
  4. Ambassador – You represent East Forsyth and the Soccer Program. All players are to be positive representatives of the program. I am confident that each of you understands how to act in the classroom and in the community.
