Subject: Download notification of contents

In the very near future a download will occur with the following enhancements and changes to the VIPs system.

¨  A new verification menu (separate memo will be provided)

¨  A receipt will be provided when completing a sales tax adjustment on the VIPs system.

¨  Enhancing the system to enable you to deliver a firefighter(F.F.) license plate. The registration type will be “FF”. (Example: otauff). The inventory item number is 084.

To deliver a firefighter plate select option number 14 off the special plate application delivery screen. The delivery of this plate mirrors the issuance of all other special plates on this menu option. The required documentation is a certification by the Kansas State firefighters Association, signed by an authorized representative and the fire department chief stating the individual is an active or retired firefighter. (We will fax examples at a later time). This certification will be attached to the application/delivery or original application and forwarded to Titles & Registrations Bureau to be microfilmed.

The firefighter must be listed on the title record as an owner or lessee. The plate cannot be transferred to any other person.

At this time, we do not know the delivery date of the plates. You will be notified when the plates are to be delivered to your offices. After receipt into inventory, you may begin delivering the plates.

The fees are as follows: Processing fee of $40.00, County Service fee of $3.00 and reflectorized plate fee of $.50. The application delivery screens will charge a total of $43.50.

¨  Enhancing the system to enable you to deliver a Purple Heart motorcycle tag. The inventory item number is 033. The registration type is “CW” (combat wounded).

The plates have been ordered and should be available for delivery sometime in July. The plates will not be dispersed directly to your offices.

The procedure for issuing the tags is as follows: The customer notifies you that they qualify for and want to purchase the tag. You then notify Kelly Horton by e-mail (her e-mail address is ) that you have a request for a Purple Heart motorcycle tag and she will send a tag to your office as soon as possible. Please tell your customer to allow 3 to 5 days for delivery of the tag. Kelly will provide you with a packing slip with the tag allowing you to receipt the tag into inventory. Delivery of the tag can be completed once the tag has arrived in your office.

The fees are as follows: County Service fee of $3.00 and reflectorized plate fee of $.50. The application delivery screens will charge a total of $3.50.

¨  5-year utility heavy truck inventory change to allow issuance of a 2011 decal for 2010-registration year.

¨  Clean up of address problem on registration. When an address change is being completed, the change will update to the title record and remain updated.

¨  Ability to complete an original title on 1st quarterly pay on 16000 and 20000 pound (L.B.) trucks for regular, custom harvester, local and 6000 mile registration. Allows registration of 16000 and 20000 pound (L.B.) for these same truck classes on quarterly pay.

¨  Removing the alternate motor vehicle cost chart from the sales tax menu.

¨  All-terrain vehicle allows up to and including 1,000 pounds for empty weight. This is a law change effective immediately.

¨  The menu option for the number of receipt and report copies has been modified to allow each county to set the number of copies preferred for their county. The allowable entries allow 0 to 9 copies per selection. If the Title and Registrations Bureau requires a copy to be sent to them, the system will print an extra copy.
