Job Description:

The Medial Staff Credentialing Coordinator oversees the daily operation of the medical staff office. Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate site specific credentialing processes and privileging processes, regulatory compliance for the medical staff, the orientation program and educational requirements for new medical and allied health staff appointees
  • Serve as the liaison of hospital services to the medical staff
  • Provide administrative support for the medical staff leadership
  • Coordinate annual meeting, leadership training, dues elections, social functions and special projects for the Medical Staff

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 1 to 3 years of related experience in Credentialing

Preferred:

  • Vocational/Technical Training or Associate Degree
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare related field
  • NAMSS (National Association of Medical Staff Services)
  • CPCS (Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist)
  • Hospital experience

Specialty education/experience requirements needed beyond minimum qualifications:

  • Attend yearly conference
  • Actively participate in organizations
  • Hold membership in MAMSS (Minnesota Association of Medical Staff Services) and/or NAMSS (National Association of Medical Staff Services

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated courtesy, tact, respect, and positive approach to communication and interaction with patients, physicians, professional staff, employees and visitors
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required
  • Strong computer skills required with proficiency in Excel PowerPoint and Word
  • Word processing experience and computer experience required. Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality of all information
  • Experience, education and understanding of physician credentialing and re-credentialing process strongly preferred
  • Able to prioritize, work independently, and have strong judgment skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and frequent interruptions
  • Due to differences in scope of care, practice, or service across settings, the specific experience required for this position may vary
