WOODPECKER BARN
Introduction
Woodpecker Barn is a Bed & Breakfast establishment comprising two Suites. Each Suite consists of a Bedroom, Lounge & Shower Room.
We try to cater for the needs of all our guests and when a booking is made, whether by email or phone, we hope to cover any requirements you may have. Please feel free to mention anything that we may have missed.
Pre – Arrival
The only practical way of getting to us is by your own transport but if using any form of Sat/Nav it should be done so in conjunction with the map/directions on our website as the last bit can be a little problematical if relying solely on Sat/Nav.
The nearest railway station is Frant (approx 2 miles) but getting a taxi from there would be tricky unless pre-booked. Tunbridge Wells station is 5 miles and there are regular Taxis outside. Buses are virtually non-existent!
Arrival
As previously mentioned the final bit of the directions can be confusing! This is because the Wickhurst Farm sign on the gate, to the right of the drive, is often difficult to spot due to the farmers continually leaving it open! We are working on a way of solving this problem – watch this space. Just to make it more complicated, mobile phone signals are limited.
Having found the entrance to the drive the signs to Woodpecker Barn are then clear. Our drive is gravel and extends round the house to the front entrance. Parking is a matter of feet away from whichever Suite you are staying in.
Entrances
SUITE 1.
It has it’s own entrance with two steps up to the door (each of 16 cm). The bedroom is on the ground level as is the private shower room. The height of the shower tray is 14 cm. The bedroom has a king-size double bed. The lounge to this Suite is, however, situated above the bedroom and accessed by a flight of stairs with 12 steps 20cms high. The lounge has a sofa/bed which folds out to a double bed. It is primarily intended for children but an adult has used it on the odd occasion that we have had 3 adults sharing this Suite. Floors on the ground level are either wood or stone. The staircase and lounge are carpeted.
SUITE 2.
The bedroom ( double bed) , lounge and private shower room of this Suite are all situated on the 1st floor of the property and can be reached by a flight of stairs just inside the main entrance. The staircase has 12 steps 20cms high and the height of the shower tray is 12cm . The staircase, bedroom & lounge are all carpeted. The bathroom has tiles on the floor.
Garden
Guests are free to wander round the garden. A large area of it is lawn but there is also a paved patio with one step leading to the courtyard but this can be accessed from the lawn area as well thus omitting the step. Paths in the courtyard area are of coarse gravel.
Additional Information
As mentioned mobile phone reception is very limited but guests can use our landline if they have the need. Although Woodpecker Barn has a no-smoking policy you are quite welcome to smoke outside.
We can accept small items of food, drink and medication for storage in our fridge by arrangement.
No deposit is required but we do ask for payment in cash on arrival.
