Expression of Interest

Well Women’s Screening Course – delivered by Family Planning NSW

Hunter New England Central Coast Primary Health Network (HNECCPHN) are looking to support rural and remote Practice Nurses to undertake Well Women’s training. We are seeking in the first instance an expression of interest from nurses who feel that cervical screening could be a part of their role and have been seeking an opportunity to complete this training.

Well Women’s training is provided by Family Planning NSW, who recognise the need for skilled nurses to undertake cervical screening. In early April 2017 Family Planning NSW will be partnering with Hunter New England PHN to deliver face-to-face training in Tamworth.

This course is designed to help registered nurses, midwives and enrolled nurses who work in General Practice to develop confidence and competence in the provision of cervical screening and to contribute to increasing cervical screening rates in areas of low participation. Sexual health history taking and breast awareness will also be covered in this course.

The outcomes of the training will include;

  • Demonstrate ability in obtaining an accurate well women’s history
  • Demonstrate confidence and competency in cervical screening
  • Ability to discuss breast awareness
