- Gather family and friends addresses from home. Might be your Christmas list, your graduation announcement list, birthday party invitation list, etc. (at least 20 realaddresses). You will be merging your 20 addresses with a creative label that you have made appropriate to the use of the labels.
- Check with Ms. Lane and find out what label sizes are available. Then choose that size of mailing address labels. (probably 5160)
- Create; using Microsoft Publisher, a database of your personal address book to use as mailing labels. Use the Mail and Catalog Merge Wizard
- Create holiday or graduation announcement mailing labels; include an appropriate graphic, background and use an appropriate font on your labels. (Christmas card list, graduation announcement list, etc.). Must be correct mailing format and easy for the postman to read.
- Merge the database into the mailing labels.
- Print on regular paper first, check with Ms. Lane, and then print on label paper.

Specific label directions-STEP by STEP:
- Open Microsoft Publisher and choose Publication Types, Labels and then the size of labels available (ex. 5160).
- Go to the Tools Menu and then Mail and Catalog Merge and select Mail Merge, follow the steps at the left hand bottom of your screen,
- Step 1 of 5:Select Data Source, type a new list.
- Type in your addresses, filling in the fields that are necessary for your list (not all fields will be filled in). Click New Entry for each new address. When finished with all 20 or more address, click close. Save the list as addresses under your ID#. Proofread you addresses and correct any errors. Click OK.
- Step 2 of 5: Insert the fields that you used when typing in your address list. (including spaces, commas, and returns where necessary) Next, Create Your Publication (Use fun fonts, clipart, color, shading, etc.) ie: City, St Zip Code
- Step 3 of 5: Preview your publication. Please use the arrow keys (upper left of your screen) to proofread each label to make sure they are accurate and properly placed.
- Step 4 of 5: Complete your merge
- Step 5 of 5: Print on regular paper first
- Check with Ms. Lane to obtain label paper and get approval to print.
