Job Title:Training Manager

Department:Creative Sport & Leisure (CSL)

Reporting to: Southern/Northern Area ational Training Manager (CSL)

Introduction

Creative Sport & Leisure have developed a strategy to train the next generation of professionals through the Active Leisure, Learning and Well-being Sectors. With a head office in Basildon, Essex and offices in Bolton, Shrewsbury and St Austell, CSL is working together with major employer partners nationally to design training programmes that meet their and their employee’s ambition to become the sector leaders of the future.

Key Responsibilities

The position of Training Manager is a combined role of training delivery including PE in School Sport, Activity Leadership and Sports Development and leadership including line management, and quality assurance enabling CSL to deliver outstanding provision andto meet the needs of employers,learners and customers:

  1. To deputise for the SouthernNational Area Training Manager/Northern Area Manager when required.
  2. Assisting with leading the development training in conjunction with employers, stakeholdersand the Southern/Northern Area Manager.
  3. Lead on the relationship with employers, stakeholder and provide project management when required.
  4. Dealing with day to day Health & Safety/Safeguarding issues.
  5. To deal with unplanned matters which may include staff sickness, learner discipline, loss of facilities and employer engagement.
  6. Ensuring that training is delivered in an effective manner that will allow each member of the delivery staff and the programmes as a wholeto achieve the targets set (success and timely success).
  7. Plan curriculum in line with funding agency guide lines and implement plans.
  8. Deliver training programmes in the Active Leisure, Learning and Well-being sectors.
  9. Responsible for the quality of Teaching, Learning and Assessment.

Quality Measures / Outputs

  • Ensure that all provision is at, or is actively working towards judgements of outstanding. Measured by progress on Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) actions and observations.
  • Contribute to Self-Assessment Report.
  • Maintain or develop outstanding customer satisfaction, promoting further commercial and training opportunities including apprenticeship, as measured through service reviews and surveys.
  • Achieving or exceeding targets set for Creative Sport & Leisure.
  • Maintain centre and staff accreditations with awarding and other regulatory bodies to support the achievement of ‘outstanding’ judgements.
  • Carry out internal verification and other quality assurance sampling.
  • Carry out learning walks and teaching observations of both CSL and partner delivery.
  • Manage and support delivery staff to ensure high levels of success for learners.

Attend training managers and quality assurance meetings.

How outputs will be achieved

  • Maintain the relevant industry Continuous Professional Development in line with the changing demands of the business.
  • Carry out Active Leisure, Learning & Well-being specific training needs analysis with new and existing employers.
  • Develop Active Leisure, Learning & Well-being specific training offer and curriculum with Northern/Southern Area ational Training Manager.
  • Draw on the expertise and resources of the PROCAT and CSL Board of Directors to enable responsibilities to be met and quality measures and outputs achieved.
  • Maintain and assist with the development of Active Leisure, Learning & Well-being specific training areas within Creative Sport & Leisure.
  • Identify training and partnership opportunities with existing and new employers within the sector.
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young adults.

  • Use of ‘best practice’ teaching and assessment guidelines and support, coach, mentor and observe learners and identify training needs.
  • Inspire learners and encourage motivation for lifelong learning.

Experienced and qualified to deliver in the active leisure learning and wellbeing sectors including such qualifications as activity leader, PESS, exercise and fitness, coaching, customer service / 
Experience of writing and using Schemes of Work and Lesson Plans / 
Able to use a variety of teaching and assessment methods and styles / 
Understanding of educational institutions, further education, apprenticeships and awarding bodies / 
Experience of facilitating EV and Audit visits / 
Able to manage and organise own time / 
Prepared to travel across the country and stay away overnight / 

Salary: Up to £33,280 dependent on skills, qualifications and experience.
