Press Release Incident: Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash

On Tuesday, March 12, 2012 the Egg Harbor Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash which occurred at approximately 12:49 pm on Delilah Road in the area of Delilah Terrace, in the Farmington section of the township.
The 1997 Honda Civic operated by Lanette Torres, 21 years of age of Atlantic City, was proceeding East on Delilah Road when it experienced a mechanical problem causing it to cross into the oncoming lane of travel and being struck by a Ford Pickup. The 2010 Ford F350 tandem rear pickup truck operated by Fredrick L. Cincotti, 49 years of age from Egg Harbor Township, was proceeding west on Delilah Road when the Honda Civic crossed directly into his vehicle’s path.
The impact caused the pickup to come to rest on top of the Honda entrapping front seat passenger, Thelma H. Torres 35 years of age from Atlantic City, in the wreckage. Numerous officers responded to assist with the detour of traffic around the crash scene. The Farmington Fire Company, Cardiff Fire Company and Atlantic City International Airport Fire Department responded and extricated Thelma Torres utilizing the Jaws of Life extrication tools. They were assisted by Guenther’s Towing which utilized a truck that was able to lift the pickup off the Honda.
Lanette Torres, her 2 year old son and Thelma Torres were treated at the scene by the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad, AtlantiCare paramedics and transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical City Campus Trauma Center. Thelma Torres was pronounced deceased at the Trauma Center.
The roadway was closed to traffic for approximately 3 hours while the crash was being investigated and cleared. The crash is being investigated by Sergeant Albert Maiorano and Master Police Officer II Kevin Devlin.
