* Year-round Swimmers on the Reagan Swim Team

High school swimming is an honor for any athlete who makes the team. It requires a commitment from every athlete. Year-round swimmers are an integral part of the high school team; however, these swimmers must be able to make a commitment to the high school coach, the high school teammates, and themselves. Having coached in both arenas and being a teacher, I understand the demanding schedule of year-round swimmers and I truly appreciate any year-round swimmer who is able to swim on my high school team. I will try to accommodate your year-round schedule, but at the same time, my priority must be the Reagan Swim Team.

In order to be a part of the Reagan Swim Team, the year-round swimmer must agree to the following:

·  attend every try-out workout

·  attend every high school meet unless there are prior arrangements made by the high school coach

·  attend 2 high school workouts per week (pool or land) with the understanding that you are swimming with your year-round team during the other workouts; a high school meet counts toward one of the mandatory workouts; therefore, if there are 2 high school meets in a week, the year-round swimmer does not need to attend any high school practices that week

·  attend Reagan Swim Team functions (ie: team meals, meetings, etc.) unless there are prior arrangements made by the high school coach

·  support the Reagan Swim Team members when competing for Reagan High School and refrain from wearing year-round team apparel during Reagan practices and competitions

There is also a new lettering requirement for all swimmers this season. In order for a year-round swimmer to letter in high school swimming, he/she must qualify for the 4A Central Regional meet and, if qualified, compete in the North Carolina High School 4A State Championship meet.

Please give this form serious thought and discuss it with your family and year-round coach before signing because failure to meet these requirements will result in dismissal from the Reagan Swim Team.

______

student/athlete date parent/guardian date

* This only applies to year-round swimmers who can show proof of one of the attached time standards which changes year-to-year and is based on North Carolina 4A Automatic Regional Qualifying time standards and actual times that qualified for the state meet during the previous season. All other year-round swimmers are expected to break from their club team and make a full-time commitment to the high school practices and meets during the Reagan season.
