PTSO Meeting – November 13, 2012

Call to order at 7:01pm

Approval of Minutes from October Meeting; motion by Mary Murray; seconded by Kristy Brewer. Minutes approved.

Principal’s Report – Ms. Koslowski

·  This is AEW – please come attend one of your children’s classes tomorrow or Thursday.

·  TY for attending the Doug Green Memorial groundbreaking last night at PF.

·  Next week is Thanksgiving break

·  Sponsor “Needy Family” program – encourages parents/people to donate money to go towards gift cards for PF family in need.

·  March 5th from 8-9am will be a meeting for Freshman parents on college planning

Teacher’s Report – Ms. Belin

·  TY for the teacher baskets – hopefully more teachers will join

·  SAT classes are going well

·  Night at the Falls – (Exec board voted not to have it b/c nobody has been willing to step up and lead it. Further discussion on past Night of the Falls.) SAVE A DATE FOR 2013-2014 IN CASE SOMEONE WANTS TO ORGANIZE NIGHT AT THE FALLS NEXT YEAR.

·  December 6th is Senior Spaghetti Dinner – having clubs make baskets as a fundraiser for the Grafton School.

·  “Snowcoming” spirit week December 3-7

Parent Liaison Report – Ms. Jessica Foster

Her information is on the website

At PF M-F from 10-1; she would like to see more parents involved in PTSO.

Treasurer’s Report – Missy Hooper

Grant Request – Mr. Conrad Varblow (Request for t-shirts for AP Physics to promote class at PF. There are currently only 12 students taking AP Physics right now. Discussion on whether or not PTSO should buy t-shirts…) this request did not go for a vote – but Samantha Whitfield is going to follow up to see if the t-shirts can be donated. PTSO will consider paying for students who can’t afford a t-shirt.

Grant Request – Scholastic Challenge; on hold.

Grant Request – Jennifer Bridges is requesting $500.00 for a new camera for the PF newsletter. Motion to approve the camera by Helen Lin up to $500.00 with the stipulation that there is a write up in the newspaper thanking the PTSO and that it is purchased thru Amazon on the PF link. Missy Hooper seconded the motion. Motion passed.

Discussion on PTSO Scholarships – follow up with Sheri.

The Toastmasters program is still pending. (Hopefully begin the end of January.)

Membership Report – Kathy Baker

309 members (59 staff)

Key Club is having a blood drive on 11/29 (if students donate 6 times as students they get a special cord at graduation).

Fundraising Report – Mary Murray

100 ornaments are left (Katie said they are selling)

Hospitality Report – Samantha Whitfield

Teacher breakfast is scheduled for Thursday, December 6th. Sign up genius went out today.

Sept. basket was spirit. Oct. basket was pink out. Nov. was baking basket (Conrad V. won Nov.)
