Constitution of Men’s Roller Hockey

Article I – Name of the Club

The University of Arkansas Razorback Roller Hockey Club

Article II– The Purpose of the Club

The purpose of the University of Arkansas’ Men’s Roller Hockey Club is to play hockey in an organized and competitive fashion. It is also to show good sportsmanship and general enthusiasm for the sport of hockey while representing the University of Arkansas proudly.

Article III – Statement of affiliation with external organizations and or departments

The clubwill compete in the Southwest Collegiate Hockey League (SCHL), a league that has already established itself with over 10 teams from the southwest. The SCHL is a satellite league of the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association (NCRHA). We will also be affiliated with University Recreation (UREC) and the University of Arkansas.

Article IV – Criteria for membership with the club

To be a part of the club, students must be enrolled in the SCHL requirednine credithours (different requirements for grad students and seniors). Students must maintain the club required GPA (2.0). Club members must provide their own equipment, and also provide their own transportation to all club events. It will be mandatory for all members to be present at all club functions unless approved by the President or Vice President. Students are the only people eligible to become a member. Any member must abide by the student handbook policies. All members must pay the budgeted dues at times determined by the league and board. There is a no refund policy for members.

Article V – Voting Policies for Club Officers

The three founders Hunter Stafford, Matt Robinson, and Noah Hirschy will assume positions as President, Vice President and Treasure to start out, and then other positions will be filled/voted on upon our first meeting. Each member of the club receives one vote at an established meeting, and majority rule makes the final decision.The officers will be chosen at the beginning of each fall semester and evaluated at the beginning of every spring semester.Club founder’s Noah Hirschy and Hunter Stafford will have the final say on all club decisions.

Article VI – Duties and Privileges of Membership

The main privilege of being a part of the University of Arkansas’Club roller hockey is that club members will be given the opportunity to participate in a competitive sport like hockey while enjoying the brotherhood that comes with playing any team sport. It will be our duty to not only represent the University while competing against other big schools in the surrounding states, but also to attend all club events to make our team as successful as we can. Also members will be able to vote and help make decisions for the club as a whole.

Article VII – Description of Officers, their Duties, and Authority

President – The president will run the University of Arkansas’s Club Hockey team. The president will be responsible for making final decisions for the team, and will lead all mandatory clubmeetings over various team issues. The president will also be responsible for arranging our schedule and being the “go to communicator” with the league commissioner for the SCHL. The president will be in charge of issuing any disciplinary action when he feels it’s necessary. The president will make sure any and all paperwork is turned in.

Vice President – The Vice President will serve in assisting the president in all necessary situations and assisting with any paperwork and delivery of papers. The Vice President will also hold responsibility in organizing how everyone will travel to our games, and is in charge for organizing team meals on the road.

Treasurer- The Treasurer will be in charge of handling all financial situations. The Treasure will also be the one in charge of collecting money from the club members, and making sure league fees are paid in full and on time. Another duty is to turn in any budget and financial paperwork.

Other officer positionsif needed will be discussed at the first meeting by the team together. All officer positions will be voted on following the team being completed. will be added when need be, and the officers and founders will decide who fills said positions.

Article VIII- Process for selection of Officers and their Requirements, as well as the Process for Removal of any Officer

Our President, Vice President, and Treasurer positions will be assumed by the three founders to begin with, and then during the first meeting we will open up voting for leftover positions. appointed by the club founders. The president can also have a say in who he wants the other officers to be. All positions will be held for the members’ time as part of the club, unless it is brought to the attention to the club as a whole that an officer should be replaced. After that all other Officer positions will be open to voting.

All voting that takes place in electing officers will simply be based upon a majority vote basis. In which each member receives one vote.

The removal of officers will be based on a vote from all membersthe other officers and founders when the situation rises. All thoughts on removing an officer or any member for that matter will be initiated by the President. Should a member feel that the President should be removed this issue can be disgusted with the Vice President, and he will hold a vote on the issue.

Article IX – Process for Selection of Volunteers (coaches’ advisors etc) as well as the Process for Their Removal

When a volunteer is presented to be selected or removed the club members will vote at a meeting. Each member receives one vote and majority rules make the final decision.The officers will decide when the time comes if a volunteer is necessary, and the foundersofficers will have the final say.

Article X - Club Meeting Frequency, Organization

Meetings will be arranged before trips, and at the beginning of the season. We will also fill in gaps and arrange meetings as needed. The President, Vice President and Treasurer will present plans, schedules finances, etc. to the team through meetings and emails. Meetings will be announced monthly, and all members must attend. Following meetings and through emails the team will have an “open door policy” where any member can quickly contact anyone in the organization with any questions, statements or ideas.

Article XI – Dues of the Club, How and when they are Collected Expenses of the Club that Dues are spent on

The Treasurer will collect all dues. Once the league determines how much of our fee will be our treasurer will find out how much each player owes. From there we will split the cost for each player into two installments that will be paid on dates determined at a later date. All dues will directly be spent on league fees, and possibly uniforms, should we not be able to get those donated.

Article XII – Club’s process for decision-making (include quorum)

Once something is brought to the attention of the club leaders, it will then be voted on by the group as a whole in which each member gets one vote and the majority rules.the officerss with the founders having the final say.

Article XIII Requirements for Selection, Removal, and Replacement of Volunteers and Faculty/Staff Advisors

The voting process from the team officers and team will appoint all staff.

Article XIV The Processes to change, remove, or add amendments to this Constitution

The Constitution will be brought up on regularly during team meetings. All changes to the Constitution will go into effect after passing a 2/3-officer majority and a general majority rule by all team members. The two founders have the right to overwrite any and all decisions made by the officers.

Article XV – Statement of Ratification for this Constitution

All founders of the current club approve this Constitution, and we promise to abide by all that is written in this document.
