The session seeks to identify structural issues and policies that can help guide policymakers to expand the growth potential of domestic and regional demand in coming years, and thereby create a basis for sustainable and inclusive long-term growth. These issues and policies span a variety of dimensions, including macroeconomic policy (monetary, fiscal, and foreign currency management), real sector issues (trade and industrial structure), infrastructure, labor market and social policy, financial sector reform and regulation, and regional cooperation and financial architecture.

Green Growth is a perception to ensure that efforts to protect the environment should be not only compatible with economic growth but also creating new industries and jobs. Transition to green economies will contribute to creating a low carbon society where we maintain economic growth while maximizing energy and environmental conservation. How to finance this transition is a critical question for all APEC economies. This session is expected to include discussion to share relevant information and good practices among the economies as well as to provide possible policy recommendations on this subject.

For sustainable growth in the Asia-Pacific region, facilitating infrastructure development, in particular intra-regional one, is essential. But development of regional infrastructure requires availability of infrastructure finance. The session will discuss some regional experiences of infrastructure finance provision in Asia and Latin America, share some 'best practices' from these experiences, and tackle challenges and policy solutions for a more effective infrastructure financing in the Asia-Pacific region.

Innovation raises productivity and enhances the level of growth. It is crucial to improve the R&D environment and promote emerging economic sectors through innovation in order to accelerate APEC regional growth as the world’s growth center. In order to achieve this, finance is needed for start-up ventures and investment in R&D which generate innovation in the area such as life science. This session will discuss the issues of finance by private venture capital and public finance in R&D investment and related policy solutions.
