Service Purpose

To ensure an efficient, effective and professional service is provided to young people, partners and stakeholders. To engage and keep track of the destinations of NEET and vulnerable young people aged 16-24. To support the delivery of an excellent service to young people.

General Description of the Job

Working with a cohort of young people aged generally between 16 and 24, within community and education settings, including:
  • Tracking the progress of young people and intervening when required to offer support and guidance
  • Working with unemployed young people who may have a range of barriers, to help them to progress towards entry into education, employment or training
  • Supporting young people to access employment and training opportunities including liaising with employers and promoting opportunities to partner agencies

Main Accountabilities of the post

1 / To proactively contact and track clients using different means: eg outreach, door knocking visits, telephone, email and social media to establish what they are currently doing with regards to training and work and identify where they are on their employment / training journey.
2 / Ensure that young people are contacted according to national requirements to ensure that current destinations are confirmed and that NEET targets are achieved
3 / To deliver ‘interventionist tracking’ – providing information and advice where needed and if not possible, to highlight to delivery staff and partners clients in need of further support
4 / To record information and update the IYSS database in an accurate and timely manner
5 / To work as a team providing cover for team members as directed
6 / Develop and maintain effective relationships with young people in order to offer support on a range of opportunities and enable them to overcome barriers to progression
7 / Work with partner agencies to develop an effective, multi agency approach to meet the needs of young people. Develop and maintain an understanding of the work of external agencies, service providers, employers and training providers
8 / Contribute to the effective running of the service by managing information. This will include sharing information appropriately and in line with the Data Protection Act, maintaining accurate records promptly and undertaking interventionist tracking
9 / Undertake such other operational duties as may be required from time to time as directed by the Team Leader
