Color palette descriptions - REDS

591066Black Premium Transparent

This a very intense black that stays opaque when pulled into a thin stringer.

Commonly call Intense Black, it has a tendency to bleed when used over whites and Ivory causing random, unique organic patterns on lamp worked glass objects.

591064Effetre Black Transparent

This is a standard transparent black that has a transparent purple base. When pulling this color into stringer, it will appear as a dark purple transparent.

791064 Vetrofond Black Transparent

This is a standard transparent black that has a transparent dark blue base. When pulling this color into stringers, it will appear black to dark blue until the stringer gets very thin.

REDS:

501220 Lauscha Red Transparent

This translucent / transparent red appears to be a blue based red, but can develop some orange shading in it when heated. Slightly stiffer than the Italian made glass and it comes from Germany.

791072 Vetrofond Orange Transparent

This orange starts out as a transparent and strikes when heated to a brilliant transparent/translucent orange.

791903 Vetrofond Red Rainbow Striking Odd

A very interesting multi-purpose color, this unique red strikes to a brilliant opaque red, but with careful heat control, can be made to strike transparent yellow and orange on the same glass object.

ASK104 Persimmon

This is a red orange opaque that is produced in Germany.

591422 Effetre Orange

This glass is a brilliant opaque orange.

Caution: As with all the opaque reds, oranges, yellows and brown, it is wise to make a core of clear glass under these colors if you are going to encase your bead.

511229 Messy Color Clockwork

A transparent /translucent orange that stays orange throughout the working process. It does not need flashing or striking as other transparent oranges would.

791961 Vetrofond Red Carrot Sparkle Special ODD

This is a very interesting translucent orange with red swirls running through it and an over all sparkle to the glass, a very unique offering.

791944 Vetrofond Tangerine Sparkle

A darker shade of orange than Carrot Sparkle, with the same all over sparkle present in the glass.

591424 Effetre Carrot Red

This orange is has a high content of red, making it a red orange opaque.

This glass is a light orangey opaque red that develops darker red streaks when it strikes.

This glass starts out as a blue red transparent rod and strikes to a deep, rich, translucent red when worked in a torch flame.

In rod form, this glass looks like a reddish brown, but strikes to a rich, dark red brown when worked in a torch flame.

In rod form, this glass looks like a dark reddish brown, but strikes to a rich, purplish brown opaque red when worked in a torch flame.

This color is a rich, opaque light brown.

This color is a rich, opaque, dark, red brown.

591456 Effetre Gold Pink (striking)

This color is a rich dark transparent raspberry pink. When this color is pulled out to a smaller diameter and used in a thin application, it can produce a bright, transparent pink. Excellent for small detail work.

This color is a pale, slightly brownish transparent purple. Good as the base or body of a bead because the color doesn’t get so dark that you can’t tell that is a purple.

This is a warm yellowish brown transparent that stays transparent throughout lamp working process.

511109 Messy Color Bordello

This color is a true garnet red transparent, very useful in the introduction of intense transparent red details. Is a very saturated transparent red even when pulled down into a stringer.

ASK104 Scarlet Dreams

This color is a very saturated opaque red.

591016 Effetre Dark Topaz Transparent

This color is a very dark yellowish brown transparent that stays transparent throughout lamp working process.

591076 Effetre Red (striking) Transparent

This color is a bright, slightly orange transparent red. This transparent red can become a cloudy red brown when used as the base color of a bead and worked for a long time ( over 15 minutes), but is good for red transparent detail work.

591014 Effetre Medium Topaz Transparent

This is a warm yellowish brown transparent that stays transparent throughout lamp working process.

591072 Effetre Orange (striking) Transparent

This color is a super bright transparent orange and the rod is often a transparent yellow before it is heated.

591262 Effetre Powder Pink (striking)

This color appears as a very pale coral brown in rod form and develops a creamy pale coral pink when worked in a torch flame. Darker tones of light coral brown can be teased back out of the glass by cooling the bead slightly, then reintroducing the surface of the bead into the back of the flame to keep from over heating the glass.

This is a rich warm yellow that often looks like the color the inside of a ripe cantaloupe.

591460 Effetre Yellow Ocher

This color is a rich yellow brown and is the darkest yellow produced by Effetre.

791957 Vetrofond Orange Punch

This color is a variation of coral that blooms into a mixture of pink, coral, orange, dark yellow and a soft brown when heated in a torch flame.

591532 Effetre Pink (striking) Opalino

This color is a translucent pale pink in the rod that strikes to a lovely translucent pink. It is important to put a clear core in your bead if you are going to encase with clear when using this color.

591380 Effetre Dark Pink Alabaster

This color is a dark ( non-striking) translucent pink. It is wise to use a core of clear glass in your beads when using this color if you are going to encase with clear.

ASK104 Pink Lady's Slipper

This color is a lovely lavender pink opaque.

591536 Effetre Carnelian (striking) Opalino

This color looks pale pinkish tan in rod form and strikes to a rich pinkish brown. It is best to use a clear core in your bead if you are going to encase this color in clear. This color should not be worked a long time in the flame or soaked in the kiln too long, as it will turn a chalky brown tone.
