Judith King, MSW, LCSW, LCADC, CPAS
Judith is a master’s level social worker who has worked in the field of addictions for over 29 years.
She has been a perinatal addictions prevention specialist and managerof the Partnership’s Perinatal Addictions Prevention Project for the last 14 years. She provides educational presentations on a variety of topics, including Perinatal Addictions.

Nurses and social workers working in perinatal settings

Learner Outcomes
The learner will achieve an understanding of the impact of using alcohol and other drugs on the pregnant mother and fetus, so the learner can provide education, care and support to patients/clients.
Objectives
● Identify the diagnostic criteria for Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
● Compare Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders
● Recognize the effect of other drugs on the developingfetus
● Discuss the effect of the father’s use of drugs on the developing fetus
● Explain symptoms of Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome

Successful completion
