To all Scout Leaders
Central Yorkshire will be holding one of its annual caving weekend on the 7th & 8th October 2017 at Upper and Lower Long Churns Pot Holes. We will be running caving sessions for groups of Scouts starting at 9.30 on Saturday and then throughout the day till 15.30. On the Sunday a 10.00 start until l3.00. We appreciate it may not be possible for Leaders to accompany their Scouts on different caving sessions. Therefore Central Yorkshire will provide enough trained Leaders and Helpers both male and female, so parents and helpers who do not wish to cave may be used as transport. Those who do wish to cave however will be welcome but this will reduce the number of scouts caving. Please book along with your Scouts so we can provide the necessary safety equipment.

Caving is great fun but you will need to bring with you.
- A packed lunch kids and parents will be hungry
- A complete change of clothing including underwear (everyone will get wet)
- Towel
- Footwear for caving Wellington boots are best otherwise stout boots or shoes
- £10.00 to cover our costs + your transport costs
- The other part of this hand-out signed by a parent no form no caving
- A bin liner to put your wet gear into
- A positive attitude and a sense of determination
Central Yorkshire will provide all cavers with a helmet, light, belt, and a caving over suit, we have suits from junior small to adult XXXL. As a group you will need to organise your own “in touch” contact, I will organise one for the County team only.
How to get there
Follow the A650 through to Skipton then follow the A65 towards Kendal and the Lakes at the roundabout turn right towards Settle go through Settle village market place and after the fuel station on the left take the right turn to Horton in Ribblesdale. Follow this road through Stainforth to Horton; follow over the two hump back bridges, then follow the road past the station towards Hawes carry on this road until you reach Sellside village at the far side of the village there is a metaled track on your left turn into this road and then turn right over the cattle grid look for a black 4x4 truck with Hard York Quarry on the side. Century Homes front and rear and park in the field near this vehicle please park to allow others to pass by.

Scouts Caving 2017

To attend the caving expedition at Upper and Lower Long Churn Potholes (Thistle and Runscar caves in case of bad weather) on Saturday 7th or Sunday 8th October 2017
You will need to bring with you.
- A packed lunch and a hot drink
- A complete change of clothing including underwear (you will get wet)
- Towel
- Wellington Boots are best or a Stout boots NO TRAINERS (you must have a change offootwear)
- £10.00 to cover costs + transport costs see your Scout Leader
- This form filled in by a parent or guardian
- A bin liner to put your wet dirty gear
