Optare Electric Buses shortlisted for Air Quality Award

Optare’s electric buses have been shortlisted for yet another award. The UK Manufacturer has been shortlisted for the Passenger Transport Air Quality award by The National Air Quality Awards judging panel.

The National Air Quality Awards seeks to give value and recognition to those who make special efforts to boost air quality, whether in the public, private or charity sector.

Earlier in the year Optare was awarded a double accolade by the LowCVP for Heavy Duty Vehicle Manufacturer of the Year and Outstanding Achievement in Low Carbon Transport (winner of winners’ award).

88 Optare electric vehicles are currently in successful operation in the UK and Europe, making Optare the market leaders in the UK for this technology. The electric buses have zero tailpipe emissions and are proven to reduce well to wheel carbon footprint by over 50% in comparison with equivalent diesels.

Robert Drewery, Commercial Director, Optare, said, “I am delighted that our electric bus have been shortlisted for yet another prestigious industry award. This is testament to our continued development and promotion of the uptake of electric vehicles. Optare is committed to embracing the environment by working alongside the, DfT, SMMT, TfL, LowCVP, operators and local authorities to ensure sustained successful operation of greener buses.”
